Poll question: What's the ideology of your U.S. Representative?
I'd put my Representative, Jim Gerlach, in the neo-con category. Not quite as bad as Bush, but follows him on most everything. I checked the congressional outlook for my district, and it just leans GOP. I'm crossing my fingers for a Murphy victory! Lois Murphy sounds like a mainstream Democrat (at least she wants Medicare to stay strong.)

8. Yo! Transit John!! What part of Wyoming?
I'm not talkin' to the Birdman by any chance?

The only GOOD thing about Wyoming and the House of Representatives is that we've only got one of them.

birdman, man. I live in Laramie. When I work, I go out to the field (geologist by trade), currently on the Mesa by Pinedale. Gorgeous.

18. OK, I know a guy here in JH who could easily
go by the moniker Transit John, and he's got the Wyoming state paragliding distance record at 100+ miles - thus 'Birdman'. I don't know his politics, so I thought I'd ask.

I feel for ya over there in Laramie, but the Mesa is pretty nice. I live in Wilson where about 99% of the other Dem's in Wyoming are located. At least we have some hope of carrying one little town at the bottom of Teton Pass!

19. Laramie is heavily Dem
due to the University being there, and so is Green River/Rock Springs, because of all of the unionized labor. But, it sucks knowing that our 3 electoral votes will be going the other way every four years for the forseeable future. I just hope that the general vote percentages shift a little.

15. Mine, Ginny Brown-Waite (FL-5th), definite neocon
Her accomplishments to date have included rubberstamping all of Bush and the neocons' legislation, introducing a bill to disinter the remains of American soldiers buried in France after France refused to go along with the Iraq war, and she was the sponsor in the House of the constitutional amendendment banning gay marriage. Things done for her district: ZERO. I really hope she loses in November, but I haven't seen any advertising or campaigning by her opponent.

This guy looks like he's straight out of a Brooks Brothers ad and he's in his campaign commercials hauling hay around...it's HILARIOUS to see this preppy try and act like he's "just like" the rural hicks that live around here.

Where are you located? I'm in Bernville - just outside of Wyomissing/Sinking Spring. I'm not in their district though; we've got Holden where I am. Just missed the cut-off to vote for Lois. She seems really great - met her at the Edwards rally a few weeks ago in Phoenixville.

32. Connecticut 2nd (eastern third)
Rob Simmons is an unapologetic B*-co hawk on Iraq (but he also spent time in the military). Tends to break from the herd on social issues (abortion, gay rights, &c; they're not part of his agenda either way), and tends to make a big deal of his "independence" on the campaign trail. He voted with B*-co either 87% or 67% of the time, depending on who's counting :). In the poll I called him a "mainstream (Spector) Republican", though he's not quite as full of his own righteousness as that insufferably pompous Keystone gasheaded twit.

I've volunteered some time for his opponent, who isn't a Kucinich but has a progressive heart and a good chance to win.

Sherry's a RINO. Been in congress for 20 years under the Republican label, so the moron Republicans in my district vote for him anyway. He hated The "Contract for America", and hates Bush (although he *has* to pander to the Republican base occasionally). He's the best kinda Rep I could hope for in my heavily Republican district.

"Chainsaw" Charlie Taylor
A lying, hypocritical, greasy, neocon if ever there was one.

Don't get me wrong, though. Taylor isn't an ideological neocon...that would imply having principles. No, Charlie is driven only by power and profit. And mostly profit.

Charlie may be one of the wealthiest people in Congress, but don't let that fool you...he really isn't very smart. In fact he's so stupid, he's afraid to debate his Democratic opponent, Patsy Keever. Apparently, Charlie is not just dumb; he's also afraid of girls.

Naturally, that hasn't stopped him from coming out with lie-filled attack ads against her. One of his "real-people" ads tells an outright lie which was debunked within about 90 minutes of its first appearance. Surprise! He's still playing the ad.
