I just got a letter from the RNC
This is disturbing to me, because I have not now, nor ever would have anything to do with the RNC.

It was a form letter, asking for money to show my support for chimpy. :puke:

What I want to know is, where did these yokels get my address from? I haven't lived at this address this long, so my bet is that is was lifted from the IRS.

Last time I checked using the government bureaucracy for political purposes was illegal. But hey, coming from the RNC, I guess that's standard operating procedure. :grr:

1. I've received similar items.
My mom, who is a Repuke, has NEVER received anything from the Kerry campaign or the DNC.

I'm very suspicious, like you, on where the GOP is getting our addresses. This seems very wrong.

2. Does it have postage pre-paid envelope in it???
If so, then rip up every piece of paper they sent you into little shreds, put them back in that envelope, seal it shut, and drop it in the mail.

RNC has to cover the postage. :D

My mom used to do this when she got fundraising mail from groups she was opposed to. Smart mommy.

My dad did it... Got a mailing from the RNC, used their postage paid envelope and sent them a bunch of useless papers.

10. I get them from time to time, but. I don't trash them.
Instead, I take a wide-tip red felt marker and I write "RETURN TO MISIGUIDED SENDER" on it and stick it back in the mail.

12. We visited a Baptist Church last year
before joining our current flock. We have been inundated with crap from the RNC. Scuttle around my office is that that particular church furnished names to the RNC.

13. I got a "survey" from The GOP.....
It was a hoot. Questions like..... Should President Bush continue his tough stance against terrorism or shoule we surrender to Terrorist like John Kerry wants us to?

It wanted money and said it cost $11 just to "score" the survey. Please at least send that. Also, though you didn't need to put postage on it.... they paid the postage if you didn't.... they requested you put on a 1st class stamp.

Anyway...... I cut all ID'ing marks off, including name, etc and also cut the little ID marks off the envelope and then put Elmers Glue over it and sent it back. Worst case is I cost them 37 cents. Hope I didn't screw up their postal equipment.

Wish they'd send more.

16. Don't open it, mark it REFUSED RETURN TO SENDER
and add 'occupant does not accept mail from Nazi Scum....' if you want to, then drop it back in any mailbox. They have to pay the return postage if it has a return address on it.

17. local RNC called my house
it took me by surprised since both my partner and I are registered as Dems

my first instinct was to just hang up -- but I didn't

I was asked if I was 'undecided' -- I 'decided' to play along and said "I'm not sure -- I have questions about both that have yet been answered"

the phone-banker went into a litany of bush*'s accomplishments and the usual kerry-bashing statements

rather than listening to a scripted phonecall - I cut the person off and said "look -- all I want to know is why intelligence was manipulated to scare people into supporting a stupid war"

the phone-banker did not answer directly -- but asked me in return "did I think it was smart to change presidents in the middle of a war?"

me: "what if it's the wrong president in the wrong war?"

phone-banker just prattled on with the talking points

me: well, you can put down the script now -- you've convinced me that this is all spin, lies and other rose-colored scenarios -- I'm voting for Kerry. Thank-you for helping me decide, good-night

at that point I just hung up
