What congressional Democrat do you most look up to??
My favorite Democrat is Nancy Pelosi. She is really a beacon of what i wish all Democrats could be and a tried and true proud LIBERAL.As a gay Democrat I was happy that she supports gay marriage. I know she is from San Fran but there had to be a lot of pressure on her not to support this giving that she now leads the Dems in congress. She is pro-choice, favors the right of euthanasia, She is great on taxes and not letting the rich rob us. She supports universal medicare for all. She is the first owman leader in the congress. She along with Kucinich led the fight agaisnt the Iraq war. She introduced a constitutional ammendment for gender equality. She is a great union supporter. Supports Kyoto. Supports the international court. Holds china accountable for their human rights abuses and has voted against favored trade status with them. There are so many good things about her. Who is everyone elses fav democrat in congress?

3. I like Artur Davis from Birmingham
Granted, he is not from my district. But he is very similar to Barack Obama and I see him becoming a national presence some day. He is a true success story as well... from the projects of west Alabama to Harvard Law school. Pretty inspirational stuff if you ask me.

2. Diane Feinstein, my senior Senator
She has been in public office since the 70's. She took the reins in San Francisco after Moscone and Milk were murdered and has led the charge ever since.
She is a true American Hero.

Even though he's a good Democrat, he doesn't just vote the party line, he votes based on the Constitution.

8. W/o a doubt...
Pete :loveya: DeFazio

At a town hall meeting last month, he told us how nasty Congress had become and spoke truth to power about what is really going on in this country.

He is also one of the few that did not accept the Congressional raise - for the 13th time!

21. Ditto. Also, all the Progressive Caucus members are great.
How about getting some more like them in national office?

14. Mine, Corrine Brown
I was so proud to see her fighting on the floor of Congress at the beginning of F9/11 to protest the voter disenfranchisement in 2000. I was AGAIN proud to hear how she made all the Rethugs whip out their smelling salts when she accused them of stealing the 2000 election. She's so sassy and she doesn't take shit from anyone.

15. Gotta be Henry Waxman
He's out there hammering away. Although after watching the extras on the F 9/11 DVD I have to say that Rangle and Ben-Veniste are coming in a close second.
