Question..Obama gets elected and there are severe problems
again with Presidential Selection and Black Caucus protests again. Will Obama be able to sign their resolution since it takes one Senator? Or will he not yet be considered a Senator? Any educated guesses on this?

3. my guess is no
He would not be sworn in until January, when the President is sworn in. Gore was still presiding over the Senate on the day the CBC tried to contest the electors, I seem to recall that was in December of 2000.

4. New Senate is sworn in earlier than new President
The next Senate starts fairly soon after the new year, like Jan 3,4,5 (something like that), while the next President isn't inaugurated until Jan 20.

If the electoral vote casting takes place, say, on Jan 10, there would be a new Senate, but Cheney would still be presiding officer (as VP).

I don't remember the details from 2000, unfortunately.

5. Not going to happen.
Kerry-Edwards are starting to pull ahead now. The only way the Bush people can avoid certain defeat is to try to create a national emergency to delay the election. While that may sound improbable, a respected CI analyst (retired) Ray McGovern has stated that he is aware of this possibility. There was a thread last night on LBN regarding this.
