CNN: Whoring hard for * with Security Moms
Just watched a truly vomitrocious segment. The pre-ad promo was a good clue "Next, we'll hear from a Democratic woman who is leaning toward Bush 'cuz of security!" that I should turn it off. But I'm a glutton for punishment so there I was watching a panel of truly the dumbest dingbats I've ever seen praise Chimpy for his "strong leadership" in his (non)response after 9-11 and his cough gag handling of the Iraq war gag cough. They managed to scrape up a woman who voted for Gore last time but is leaning Bush b/c of her fears of 'terra'.
There was one woman who said her Republican doctor told her she should vote Democrat if she wants to have sufficient health insurance but that was about the only bright spot. Oh yeah, and a caption ran briefly on the screen saying that Kerry was running 12% ahead of Bush among female voters. But pay no attention to that, folks. Its aaaallll about terra and Security Moms!

In a word: :puke:

2. yep, they're that bad
I used to watch them during the day, and finally stopped because I was so disgusted with their deceitful and obviously biased 'journalism', and so tired of yelling at my TV that I just decided they weren't worth the trouble.

Cause my gf always says I'm too biased to watch the news cause I can't even handle the freeper point of view. I'm sure CNN shows point AND counterpoint...right?

12. I was a journalist, and trained to at least try and be objective
I'm not afraid of the truth, even if it hurts. CNN does not speak the truth, nor do the even attempt to practice objective journalism. This is true even in their early days.

15. I just watch CNN for the "amusement"
of seeing how bad they are.

Like the time they showed a Kerry speech and followed it with a Republican shill criticizing it. A couple hours later a Bush speech followed with a person talking about how Bush has the "security moms" voting for him. No criticism whatsoever.

It's not always obvious... unless you are thinking about it.

No excuses. If you support this nightmare, then you should be willing to be maimed or killed for it.

"Sorry, but I am more worried about Jihad than about the Patriot Act."

Then I feel sorry for your children, if you actually have any. As a parent, I'm more concerned with my son's healthcare, education, the environment in which he will have to live and the possibility that he will be drafted against his will to serve in some unknown conquest of the future.

But yeah, you go ahead and worry about that "Islamist Terrorist" takeover. :eyes:

44. Welcome to DU
I am a father and I agree with you when you say: I want my kids to live in a world of freedom, liberty and democracy. However, the idea of an "Islamic Terrorist" is boogey-man that this administration is using to scare us with while they plunder the US treasury and start a war for profiteering. The mis-named "Patriot Act" is just a repressive tool for them to accomplish their thievery. It's really a threat against us as citizens, that if we cause too much trouble, the government will come down on us.

I ask you to please study this issue and reconsider your opinions. Below are excellent links to articles by Chomsky and General Butler. Both are very educational.

For the sake of your children and mine, please, please read these articles.

53. Then work hard to elect Kerry and support the ACLU
I want my kids to live in a world of freedom, liberty and democracy.

You don't get to choose the world, but you can work for those things here. Unless you feel it's necessary to use our military to force feed our idea of democracy on other cultures, why do you mention "world"?

Where they can keep the money they earn.

No one mentioned taking people's money away from them. Or are you talking about Bush's ill-conceived tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy?

A place where they have freedom to choose the kind of life they want.

What if they choose gay marriage? What if they choose to use medical marijuana?

What if they don't want to fight in perpetual wars?

I don't want them to live in a world where they are afraid Islamic Terrorist might take over.

Then they might as well not live on this planet. They have more to fear from the pollution in the air and water than they do from terrorists. They have more to fear from automobile accidents than they do from terrorists.

And terrorists are not interested in "taking over." They are interested in destabilizing societies to affect policy.

Sorry, but I am more worried about Jihad than about the Patriot Act.

You really don't have a problem with the reduction of our liberty as long as it gives you some peace of mind?

Guantanamo Bay is open for occupancy. You could have real security there.

9. Strong leadership?
Under Bush Version 2.0, I remember that we've had:

Millions of people running for their lives through the streets of New York City.

Planes flying into buildings, setting them on fire and causing them to later crumbling to the ground.

The heart of our defense, the Pentagon, up in flames.

A large crater in Pennsylvania.

A pre-emptive war based on fictions.

Much of the world is pretty p.o.'d at us.

Yeah, that Bush, he is sure good at keeping us safe.

Does CNN find these women at treatment centers for battered wives?

11. I think they go to spas and nail salons
Not that there's anything wrong with getting a massage or your nails done. I like to partake myself but.....They find these upper middle class types that are there in the middle of the day. So you know they a. don't work outside the home and b. have the disposable income to pamper themselves like that. They interview them to find out how much they know. The knowledgeable ones are tossed out right away, they're more likely to vote Kerry. And besides, you know, smart women are such a drag....

They find ones who are like "What's that name of that country we're at war with?" or "Isn't Osama bin Saddam the name of that guy who attacked us at 7-11 oops I mean 9-11?" Bingo!! We have our panel of 'concerned Security Moms' for the contrived segment!

46. Settle down! My post was not to bash stay at home moms
Did you read the whole thing? Did you watch the CNN segment I was referring to? I was speculating (in an admittedly poor attempt at humor) how they pick people for their segments. Millions of women stay home and raise kids. With such a large group of people you are going to have people that are smart and dedicated and you are going to have others who are dumb and lazy. You are also going to find vast differences in income.

Also, I'm a 35 year old manufacturing worker. I can rarely afford massages or manicures, either. I am a 10 year Navy veteran and just completed my bachelors degree. I've not had anything handed to me in my entire life. Ivy League school, hah!

I think, madam, in addition to being hyper-sensitive you are also judgmental. Additionally, I wholeheartedly agree with your concept of feminism. I too believe that ALL women's choices should be honored. I do not, however, believe that certain women are entitled to be worshipped and never criticized because they choose to stay home with children. You are honorable but not sacred.

13. But how do we know they are really Democrats...?
...or that one of them voted for Gore last time? Don't get me wrong -- I certainly believe that in this nation of many millions, there exist some Dems who like Bush and even some Gore voters who now like Bush. I've even heard of someone who likes both Rush Limbaugh and Ralph Nader (I mean genuinely likes him, not just likes him for his ability to take votes from Dems). So, anything is possible. But I don't buy the "security moms" concept as a legitimate, sizable voting bloc. It's important to remember that anyone can claim to be anything on television or on the Internet. But even if these women are telling the truth, what does it really mean? This is just a variation of those tired, old man-on-the-street interviews, which never had any informative value at all. In a nation of so many people, what do the opinions of a few selected people really tell us about anything? Especially when there is a strong motivation to simply lie?

49. with CNN, we can strongly suspect that they're not
Remember CNN's panel of 'undecided' voters, one of whom was a prominent college Republican? Why would CNN have any credibility whatsoever?

This reminds me of Crowley searching high and low to find hispanic Democrats who are planning to vote for Bush*. She did several segments on this, and now I wonder if these people were ever Democrats at all, after the exposure of their 'undecided' voter group.

the freeped "undecided" voters on CNN's panel. I believe two of the group were actually Republican operatives. I don't think CNN did much research on their "undecideds" and so the Repubs were able to skew the panel.

but the point is who is more likely to protect the US Citizens. The president who has made such dreadful choices at every juncture or John Kerry who biggest knock is that he suggests that we provide sophisticated solutions to complex problems. Our "panel" ignores the evidence and goes with a feeling or the views of others that they hobnob with.

Are there "No security moms? Of course not. It's assinine.

No person should go fight in a war that has no point in Iraq. Selected "SM's" are on babbling about how important is is to be secure. They are secure. We are all secure.

Fear. That's what they sell. So my point is it does not do any good for a "SM" to be concerned about terror sold by Rove, when we will be fighting a ten year war if Chimp is re-elected.

these so-called security moms (I HIGHLY doubt they are registered democrats) are ranting how safe they are from terrorists.. seem that they forget that Bush HIMSELF is the terrorist.

Also our US armies just killed more than 2,000 Iraqi kids, should we justify that brute action to 'secure' our kids and their so-called safety? When there are NO SUCH THING as WMD in Iraq? I will feel sorry for these non-democrat 'Security Moms' whenever Bush announce about draft if he re-elected, they surely will regret that they vote for Bush.

Thank god that moms I know did make a LOGIC decision by not vote for Bush. What more is that, women WILL lose their rights during Bush's second term. Enjoy the 'freedom' while you can until that time.
