1. I believe that tonight's
debate can cover all topics, given the format. It's the second non-town hall meeting formatted one (ha, otherwise known as the third debate) that is Domestic Issues. (unless I'm wrong, of course :))

2. I don't think its only domestic
Its questions from undecided voters. They can be anything. The debate in Tempe, AZ next week, will be domestic issues.

3. Tonight's debate is about all issues
Not just domestic.

The last debate is going to be exclussively about domestic issues.

4. It's NOT just about domestic issue
It's a mix of "people's questions" on all topics.
The third debate (if any) will be purely on domestic stuff.

6. town hall tonight...but why isn't iraq a domestic issue?
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 11:30 AM by noiretblu
since americans are losing their children, spouses, siblings, and friends in iraq? and since the justification for this war has created all sorts of issues here, e.g., the rift between the intelligence community and bush, inc?

7. When someone who has a relative in Iraq asks a question....
perhaps about veteran's medical care, or the money they had to spend to buy equipment for their children.....

Kerry can ask:

"No WMD's found, at all. Would you have agreed to have your child/husband/wife, etc... go for an oil for food scandal?"

8. Many American families in financial crisis due to wage earners called up
for extended guard and reserve duties is one way of slipping it in.

Small communities are not well prepared for emergencies/terrorist threats when so many members of their emergency response teams have been called up by their guard or reserve units and sent to Iraq for very extended tours.

Plywood prices in the US have gone up way more than the inflation rate due to massive amounts that were sent to Iraq. The prices of new homes will reflect this added cost, a situation which may keep many people from making that first home purchase and getting a foot in the door of the American dream of home ownership.

Babies all over our great nation are in increased danger from diaper rash because Americans are sending baby wipes to military personnel in Iraq who are unable to get showers regularly. (OK, I don't have any actually info on this one. But is it pretty safe speculation ;) )

A lot of American kids are growing up in single parent households because the war in Iraq has cost them a parent.

A lot of retired and disabled Americans are unable to winterize their homes this year because sons/daughters who normally do it for them are in Iraq, or worse.

A lot of small businesses have less clientele because many customers are in Iraq, where they will NOT find WMD because there weren't any there.

I could go on, but I have to stop and wipe my eyes. Every aspect of American domestic life is worse because of the invasion of Iraq.

9. the debate wil be on whatever issues Gibson decides to cull

from the screened list of questions submitted by the "uncommitted" bushgang plants in the audience.

But the first time the little bushturd lies (in other words, the first time he opens his piehole), Kerry will have a "just-like-you-lied-about-Iraq" opening.

in domestic issues. Cutting pay and benefits for veterans. I think there's no end to the ways Iraq can be brought into tonight's discussions. Our very safety in this country has been compromised by the ineptitude of this admin.'s policies concerning Iraq. You can't get more domestic than that.

I think I read somewhere that the new Iraqi constitution is going to have an ERA amendment and we don't!

14. Jerk on either CNBC or MSNBC this AM was
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 12:25 PM by Gloria
interviewing a guy from Washington Univ.
and saying that it was about domestic issues...and asked the guest how they could tie in Iraq. Guest said...DUH...link the costs, etc. of Iraq to how it affects the economy.

It was a totally numbskull segment. Of course, Kerry's been doing that already...Let's see if Bush can do it...he will probably go off on a totally Iraq track and avoid really addressing domestic issues as much as he can which could backfire on him. He can only switch subjects in an obvious way so many times before it gets to be silly.
