1. I can't help
I never liked the bullying, dumbed-down frat-boy type.

2. it means stupid people
relate to him. The majority of America are cowards (flame me for that one but it's true) and will follow a liar just becuase he acts like one of them.

3. likable... you know, like a root canal
or metal slivers embedded in your skin;

or a cancerous tumor;

or a serial killer;

or an audit from the IRS...

Likable, like that. :evilgrin:

5. Dubya is liked by bigoted rednecks.
They feel comfortable expressing their views when he's in power.

7. My sister, who is registered for the first time in her 45 years, cannot
stand the man. She hates to even hear his voice.

I have never thought of him as likeable myself.

11. I have trouble with the way he stands
it's so phony. It looks like he has a rod up his back and is just trying to look as tall as possible. And those socks he puts in his pants to make his dick look big - that is way over the top.

I never could stand the way Nixon looked. Didn't like his hair.

Never could look at Reagan, either. It was his hair.

9. Affable, down to earth , connects with people, etc., etc.

Mystifying, ain't it? I've seldom seen anyone less likable, but I just heard Tucker Askew, major Shrub butt wipe, say that Shrub is a 'stand up guy' and I laughed out loud. When is his entire miserable slacker life has he ever been 'stand up?'

Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 12:01 PM by Monica_L
This man is not in any way, shape or form likeable. He exudes disdain. He is poster boy for petulance.

IOW, he is a sociopath and there is nothing warm and fuzzy about a sociopath.

19. Theodore Bundy was also "likable"
when he butchered women cross-country

So was John Wayne Gacy when he raped and murdered teenage boys.

Serial killers, con artists, Mafia dons, and other sociopaths are almost always regarded as "likable and charming" by people who don't know them very well.

22. Have you noticed
How much a young dubya resembles Bundy? It's actually frightening. I have never seen a clip, picture, interview, whatever, where I have found him likeable. He is one creepy human being, and I'm not just saying that, he just creeps me out, totally.

24. His creepiness factor is very high
Like fed2neck said, some sociopaths are considered to have a surface charm, but with Bush I get nothing but a creepy, neck-hair-standing feeling of hatefulness, especially when he thinks he's being folksy and cute.

13. Some people admire deviousness
They think because Bush claims the "moral high ground", he's got the right do pull whatever shit he wants and not get called on it. I remember hear some rightie call in on some talk about how Kerry was unqualified because he allowed Bush to pull the wool over his eyes on Iraq. He was totally ignoring the fact that flip side of his argument was that "his guy" lied to the American people and to Congress to get us into war.

14. It is a myth or an image they worship.
Not the Chimp behind it. Chimpie is a pre packaged puppet, artificially sweetned, artificially preserved and corporately managed product who has been able to advertize its way into all kinds of dumbed down marketing demographics.

There is a chimp for everyone. - meanwhile they are looting behind the scenes.

16. I've never found any of the "likeable" politicians so
The best they do (e.g., Reagan) is feel like used-car salesmen to me. (My apologies to any honest used-car salespeople out there.) Bush, however, always seemed elitist to me.

20. He has a personal relationship with "Gawd"
Just a guess. There is a considerable chunk of red-state America that believes "God is in the White House," as channeled through GWB*.

Which is a really frightening thought. :scared:

23. He's an asshole
He's not likeable, but the SCLM keeps on repeating that he has "folksy charm" as part of his Great Leader image they created after 9/11 to cover up the fact he is an incompetent, inarticulate fool who would be out his depth if he had to run a 7/11 let alone the country.

25. the guys I work with
all say that he's a such a great Christian man that they admire him. It makes me want to puke but reaffirms why I have such a problem with these people. They call themselves Christians but really are the most evil, mean spirited people I've met. yet the go to church on Sunday and pay their token 10% and that's supposed to magically wash away all of the evil sh*t they doe the other 6 days a week.
No offense intended to those who actually practice what they preach.

27. I think part of it is like this.
I know some people where I live who are OK people but they will back Bush no matter what he does. They have this need to be accepted by their peers who are rural western types, (horses and cows are their life). I think that they all think the other guy likes Bush so to be accepted they say they like Bush. When they talk about anything political it's like they assume you agree with them or at least you understand how they feel and accept it.

Deep down they may think Bush is an ass hole but the peer pressure dictates how they act. Now they don't like Bush because he is like them since they know Bush is faking it (all hat and no cows). (All of us who recently moved here and have bought some horses are seen as all hat and no cows so they are use to it.)

The media mistakes this for these guys liking Bush.
