"She's a strong leader and she's wrong" |
|
Did anyone catch that on the Apprentice last night? If you don't watch, contestant Pam got fired because she made a mistake which cost her team the win. She was tough and seemingly strong leader however, and when it was brought up to Trump in the board room that she showed strong leadership, Trump said, Yeah, but she was wrong!
I just thought it was almost a subliminal message to people that no matter how strong a leader someone is - if they don't listen and they're wrong, ultimately causing defeat - they have to be fired.
And I'm pretty sure I've seen Trump quoting as Not being a shrub supporter.

2. Trump does not like Bush. |
|
And he's been public about that. In fact, he pretty much said the same thing about Bush. Yes, he's very confident and strong-willed, but that doesn't a person much good if they are dead-on fucking wrong about everything.

4. I've learned that good leaders make the right decision a little over |

50% of the time. The thing that I think is important is that you learn from your mistakes. I would not take Apprentice as a good example of how life should be. It is entertainment for those who like to see someone in misery I think.
By the way, I've been fired many times (that was before I found out I had adult ADHD) and have always ended up making more money than I did before. Also I have a lot more experience and insight then most of the people I work with since I've seen how many companies work. Those who have been on the job for a lot of years seem to be limited because they only know what has been going on inside the walls of the company they work for. Almost all the problems a company faces have been solved before by other companies. If you can get that outside knowledge into your walls you are better for it. If not you try to come up with a solution on your own and maybe it is good and maybe it isn't. But it will take more time to come up with it than if you looked outside you sphere.
I am one who thinks getting fired can be a good thing. Getting through the times of unemployment can be a bitch though. What ever doesn't kill us makes us stronger.

8. A good decision-maker also has contingency plans in place. |
|
One of the essential elements of choosing any course of action is recovery and damage control. I've been a decision-maker and have worked for some excellent ones. Listen. Work for consensus but don't be obsessed about it. Make sure everyone's on board. Act. Monitor. Don't burn any bridges. Be ready to recover.

6. As far as business goes, that's a totally lame principle |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 02:24 PM by Selwynn
Everyone will be wrong sometimes. If you are a strong leader and tough, but can also admit when you are wrong and demonstrate your capacity to learn from mistakes a company is stupid to fire you. Of course, for a reality show everything has to be condensed down to cut and dried decisions, and as far as our president goes, I don't care that he has been wrong - I care that he is unable to admit his mistakes and has consistently shown is inability to learn from them.

7. what I left out of the OP was that they didn't think she would learn |

from her mistakes - she was too stubborn to admit she was wrong. Again, Bush all over.

9. women are shoppers.... |
|
What I didn't understand was why any of those women didn't ask themselves what they would have paid for for the box of sponges....which I thought was kind of a bogus item.
$19.99 was the top I would have ever considered paying for those.
