Just the other day, when all the talk of Nader-on Nader-off was going on, there was a news article and thread about what to do with the optical scan ballot. The article talked about using a label or possibly a pen to obscure the name from the ballot.
I recall raising the issue of labels possibly jamming the scanners or the pens bleeding through and affecting races on the back of the ballot.
Methinks that someone out there reads DU !!
"The board decided Monday to include bright pink notices of Mr. Nader's removal with ballots being mailed out to absentee voters. Board members said the proposed use of stickers to cover Mr. Nader's name on the ballots would cause problems with the county's optical-scan voting system.
They also rejected another idea, blacking out the independent presidential candidate's name with pens, because of concerns that ink would bleed through the ballots and cause the scanners to misread them."
