Who SAYS that our President has to be a "regular guy"? |
|
Really. I am so sick of hearing that, and who made that up, anyway?
I want a President who has some class, manners, and LOOKS like a stateman. Not as formal as the Royal Family, but just a leader I can be proud of, and not grit my teeth at their abuse of the English language.
I want someone who knows how to be diplomatic, and not stubbornly refuse to admit when they are wrong.
I want a grown man (or woman someday) to be our leader and not a childish muttonhead, or some evil incarnate entity.
I feel better now....

1. We don't need ordinary -- We need extraordinary! |

While I wasn't a huge Kerry supporter at first (I supported Dean), I think he is a billion times better than the moron in the white house right now. I can't wait until November when we elect a great leader and statesman to the White House!

Bush is embarrassing. A local pundit published a column explaining that Bush is so popular here because he "talks like us." AAAAAGH! I do not "talk like that!"

4. Could our standards for leadership in this country possibly |

be any lower? I am with you, what is all this "regular guy" crap anyway? Who cares about having a cold beer with the leader of the free world?
We need someone who is intelligent, courageous, forthright, diplomatic, committed to preserving democracy and maintaining peace. Not some dipshit loser fratboy who only committed to lining the coffers of his greedy pig friends.

5. People are afraid of admitting how stupid they are |
|
so they refuse to turn off the reality shows
they refuse to realize religion is bogus
they refuse to trade in their SUV for a more suitable vehicle
they refuse to get out of the left lane when a faster car approaches from behind
and they refuse to have a president that is smarter than they are

AWOL is the first pResident I have actually felt ashamed of. His limited vocabulary, common mannerisms, over inflated ego and his delusional perception of being "special" has been such a turn off for me. I would not want to spend any time in a room with him much less have him for my president. I can't wait for it to be over! I've spent money this year like never before supporting Kerry and the Democratic Party, my bumper stickers fill the whole bumper. Please let this nightmare end soon!

7. Maybe that's the genius of putting Bush on the ticket in 2000... |
|
...think about it.
We all know Bush is not an intelligent guy, and thus isn't the chief decision-maker in the White House. They just stuck in a recycled cabinet and set off on the Neo-Conservative vision. Not to mention economic policy that increasingly benefits corporations and the super-rich.
Bush has that down home, simple-minded country style, which is the antithesis of the elite culture (which is what Bush TRULY represents). Perception is reality. Bush's persona is a symbol, to conceal his administrations's true interests. People see him in his cowboy hat and jeans on a ranch in Texas with that gun-slinger gait and a plain-spoken style that evokes just the opposite of what's really going on behind closed doors.
The Republican Party desperately needed to create the perception that Bush was not only for, but LIKE, those good ol' country-style folks in the south and the midwest (Bible belt). It makes them feel good, and that becomes their reality. And anyone who tries to tell them otherwise hates America.

8. I couldn't agree with you more!!! |

You took the words right out of my mouth. I want a grown up, someone that can be serious about the serious things and laugh at himself as well. Not someone who laughs at the serious things and can't take even constructive criticism about himself.
I want a president that is smarter than I am -- there I said it. I want a president that is smarter than I am but finds a way to explain it to me without making me fear my neighbor or my neighbors thoughts.
I want a "father of my country" statesman type president not a "dumb kid brother" type president. I want a president that can tell me a "bedtime story" that doesn't read like a "Tales From The Crypt" script. I want a president that reaches for the best of himself and shares that with us rather than a president that lowers the bar for an entire generation so low, that we might never recover.

This is such a stupid notion. Bush is an alcoholic. The beer would have to be non-alcohol. OK, that's a bit silly. The whole notion is silly, aint it?
The Pres. is the representative of a nation. It would seem that Americans would want a representative that exhibits the highest standards of values, not the lowest common denomitor. A leader of the most powerful nation on this planet at this time needs to be extraordinary in the values that the people of this planet hold to a standard that they can be proud of.

Those are all good qualities to have in a president, though he doesn't have to be rich. Truman was a "regular guy". He did more than Bush ever did.

12. Kitty Kelley's book paints Bush as anything but a 'regular' guy |
|
according to many of his sources, he is snotty and entitled and would never deign to have a beer with anyone outside his class.
