Rumson NJ High School this morning - fake terrorist alert |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 07:00 PM by DontTreadOnMe
Anyone have any info on this? I can't find anything on Google. My sister's daughter attends Rumson High School -- about 25 miles south of NYC in New Jersey. This morning kids were panicking when CNN trucks started appearing in the parking lots. Apparently the school was scanned the previous night for "terrorist activity". Renovations have been ongoing at the school, all contractors are now being investigated... Emergency PTA meeting being held right now at school. Parents demanding facts.
Is this BushCo Security Mom terror? These kids in that town lost many fathers in the WTC! They were scared and crying!
Anyone here about any info on this?

1. Yeah there was a story that some school floor plans |
|
had been found on computers seized in Baghdad. But there is no threat of terror. Bogus Bush fear tactic.

I heard that news about the Cd files found about school plan in Bagdad, so why CNN trucks AT NJ SCHOOL! The parents know there is not a real terrorist threat now, but they panicked this morning.

The fact that the CNN trucks were arriving is what panicked the kids. It wasn't until the parents started calling that they said the school was "screened" the night before... how did CNN know about this and why were they there is the question! And then not a word about it anywhere...

is to separate rumor from fact. And generally there will be lots of rumor -- and little fact.
These kinds of things have a way of snowballing.

yes, that is my concern. Imagine what any kid would think showing up to school (especially near NYC) and CNN trucks are arriving... more than one truck! I think CNN is a little irresponsible with this...

you actually seen?
Did you see the CNN trucks?
Did you talk to anyone who you actually know was from CNN?
Or is this all just stuff that you have heard?
This story may end up across the internet -- but what are the facts?
This could be just a ploy. A fake terror alert on a school, that seemingly gets covered up (or just not spoken of officially), seems all the more real in these paranoid times. But whether it is real or fake, put in the open or covered up, it is all about fear.
The neos and the media are targeting women with children -- and trying to frighten them.
Is it working?

9. waiting for my sister to call back |
|
her daughter was at the school. There is an PTA meeting being held right now as I type this to discuss the details to the parents. My sister was on the phone with the principle of the school this morning, he confirmed the school was "screened", whatever that means! I can't find ANYTHING anywhere about this story, I only know my sister is calling me back later tonight. My parent who also live in NJ are also very upset. Their first reaction was Rove was actually playing out the fear in our school card!

Somewhere in here is the article that came out today. It was in relation to someone who is responsible for schools in Iraq. The FBI said there is no related terrorist threat. But this information was given to schools a month ago. For "some" reason, it's news now. Also a school in Salem, OR; interestingly enough, Salem went Bush in 2000 and they will absolutely need Salem to have any chance of winning this year. It's all bull from what I can tell. I'm really sorry your family is going through this, it's horrible.

it's a total LIE. this info is from JULY.
the Iraqi that had the info is an URBAN PLANNER working to rebuild SCHOOLS
there have been several threads today. i'd look, but, it's time to settle in for the 'debate'
but............. RELAX!!! it is a LIE. just like every OTHER LIE about a terrorist attack.
in fact, this was one of the most desperate and weakest ones yet.
RELAX...

to gauge the factuality of anything anybody says.
It could have been just about anything, including a prank call. Heaven knows this kind of thing has been all over the media, and some idiot might have been given a bright idea.
Believe very little of what you hear -- from anybody.
And discount my cynicism as much as you like.

I was not there, this is what my sister told my family:
1: kids showed up at high school this morning, usual Friday schoolday 2. CNN trucks starting arriving 3. Kids started to panic and started calling parents 4. Parents started rushing to school to get kids~! 5. Principle of school told parents not to worry, but the school WAS "screened" the night before. The kids did not know this and was never announced to the town until parents started asking why CNN trucks were there! 6. no more details! They announced an emergency PTA meeting to explain all the detail, going on right now 7. How come nothing from CNN???? I watched all the local news reports tonight. This is NYC metro area! How can this not be a story?
Anyone from NJ reading this. I live in NY state about an hour north. I am getting all this news from my sister and my parents who live in Far Hills, NJ
I did a Google and found nothing!

15. no panic here, the town knows its a false alarm, but |
|
my initial question is why was CNN bring trucks (plural) to the school? Doing an interview with the principle??? Something about this story really stinks. The parents are pissed off and demanding answers as to why CNN trucks would be called to the school. Any sensible kid seeing that would panic! I can't believe we now live in the age of fear! I will post a follow up when my sister gets back from the PTA meeting and tells us what they (school administrators) said.
