Interesting theory: was Bush wearing a dental device to keep from smirking |
|
Over at Atrios, Kate has this:
Hey, guys:
On second viewing Mr. Kate has discovered the Bush must have been wearing an anti-smirk dental device. We watched him speak, and react when Kerry was speaking (on C-Span's split screen) with the sound turned off. Try it, and watch his jaw. He keeps moving his jaw from side to side, and his lips barely meet when his mouth is closed. I mean, he may be able to close his lips, but it's obvious that his teeth are not touching. The repetitive jaw movements are also just what you would expect if you had an unaccustomed "appliance" or other dental device in your mouth.
Can you believe it? They actually installed anti-smirk hardware, because the man cannot control himself.
Take a look at video of him at this debate, and see if you don't think Mr. Kate is right about this.
This is just too good not to pass on, so here I do.

1. Is it an Appliance, or is it BOTOX? |
|
That's a matter strictly between Bush, Turd Blossom, and The Almighty.

I'm not hip to the cool kid lingo. Is it something to do with being high on coke?

6. I asked about this on another thread. |
|
I was wondering if it might be a known drug reaction, and I also mentioned that I once new a young woman with mild Tourette Syndrome who had tic just like that weird jaw movement of his. I have also seen people with badly fitted dentures make a similar movement. It certainly was distracting to watch it in the debate.

Everytime he said something, he would do that stupid smile thing that drives me crazy. Does that count as a smirk?

This may be a habit of his when under stress. He couldn't exactly pull out a plug of Bull Durham on national TV.
On the other hand I would have loved to see him spit. Gross out time.
