I'm frustrated with Kerry |
|
that he isn't pounding home the fact that gas prices are crazy right now with crude oil prices at record numbers.
I just don't get why this isn't being emphasized as more of an issue that affects so many Americans.
But good job John in the debate!! :bounce:

1. Me too. When * called him an "ultra-liberal" (paraphrasing) |
|
I don't understand why Kerry didn't do the Howard Dean comeback:
"If liberal means balancing the budget, etc. Call me what you want."

6. He called Kennedy liberal..Not Kerry LOL |
|
Look, the time was so controlled, every issue could not be brought into the spectrum. I wish someon has asked why Bush has loyalty oaths. I wish Kerry had asked that, but I am not complaining because you just cannot take what this bafoon has done in 4 years and call him on it in 90 minutes !

12. Uhhh Isn't that exactly what he did? |
|
He said these lables don't mean anything. He said he was part of the Congress when they actually balanced the budget He said he broke with his party in '93, '95, &'97 to vote for the Balanced Budget Act. He said "We Actually Balanced the Budget"

3. Because he can't promise to bring them down. |
|
Our situation is so bad, because Bush refused to plan for this, that the price may remain this high for years. (Although it really should start to come down when our hurricane-damaged oil rigs start producing again.)
We've been caught with our pants down, and just pulling them over our arse ain't gonna be half as easy as it might have been.
Kerry comes in, he has to start funding competition for new energy resources and new ways to conserve. THAT creates industries. THAT creates jobs. We've lost 4 years spent on waste and Hummers.

4. Kerry is going completely High-Road |
|
It can be frustrating to watch sometimes, but don't for a second think it's not being noticed.
Kerry looks like an adult. Bush looks like an ass-clown.

9. Um...you're naive if you think gas prices are coming down much. |
|
To say nothing of uninformed. Global demand for oil has increased substantially in recent years, particularly from China and India (China alone built 5 million new cars last year). World oil production, though, has remained essentially flat, with some decrease, since 2000. OPEC is likely producing near capacity. Simple economics. More people want a commodity which exists in a relatively fixed and even declining quantity, the price goes up. Will probably continue to go up. There's nothing any politician can do about it; if he promised to, he'd be lying. And Americans STILL pay less for fuel than people almost anywhere else in the world except for the Middle East.

13. He needs to explain his energy policy in more detail. |
|
Gotta go beyond "I gotta plan to stop using mid-east oil"
Gotta be better than "Pie in the Sky" un-obtainium technology, too.

18. You've missed my point completely.... |
|
I'm not saying Kerry should promise he'll be able to lower gas prices; but it's yet another example of how the economy is shit, when Bush stands there and tries to tell everyone things are great and Kerry should be calling him on it.

11. The thing that bothered me was his rebuttle on the last question |
|
I heard the question, "admit 3 things that you did wrong" and I heard *'s reply when he never admitted wrong to anything. I was literally jumping up and down on the couch for Kerry to say something along the lines of, "you asked this president to admit three wrongs and he could not even do that, to fix broken policy you must first realize that it is indeed broken"
Good debate though, he made me very proud with some of his comebacks.

17. That's right- and high oil prices add to the GDP |
|
It's a misconception that GDP growth ALWAYS improves living standards. The high gas and oil prices are starting to nudge other prices up, and it will only get worse. In an economy where most people are LOSING ground due to zero wage growth paired with soaring health care costs, it translates to an economiuc disaster to the average family.
THAT's why the "wrong track" numbers continue to be so high, in spite of the supposedly improving jobs situation.

20. How many members of this administration are oil men/women? Condi |
|
has or had a Chevron tanker named after her; uncadick is oil; smirk* was an oil wannabe...how many others? Who is making a killing off of the high prices I wonder? Smirk* and Poppy are best buds with the Saudis and I'm sure they never discuss anything about pricing or keeping up with demand (or not) as that "wouldn't be prudent".
