We had Saddam under control - A Bosnia style bombing might have |

got the access we needed, but the diplomatic leadership in the area at the time of the inspection crunch was that British guy, who confused and fought with absolutely everyone involved in the process, EVEN professionals who had been working in the region for decades.
NOT to mention how our intelligence community has been made a 0.

He was already complying when Bush pulled the inspectors out and started the invasion. They were just about finished destroying some missiles who's range was slightly too far (very slightly) at that point.
There was absolutely no reason to use force at all at the point that Bush did.

2. We didn't even need to bomb.... |
|
At the time we invaded we had already forced Hussein to:
A. allow inspectors in WITH unfettered access. B. Begin destrying al-samoud missiles on TV simply because they flew a couple of miles over the limt set forth by the UN. C. He had released a bunch of political prisoners D. The kurds in the north under the no fly Zone were living under defacto sovereign conditions
In other words WE HAD ALREADY ACHEIVED VICTORY WITHOUT INVADING!!!!!! We could have even furthered our gains peacefully by:
A. demanding a widened permanent inspections regime. B. investigated and brought an end to the oil for food abuses C. and forced gradual political reform within Iraq
All without firing one bullet.
We had that kind of leverage, but chimpy stupidly invaded anyway.

5. There is more to it... |
|
This is more of a asset grap and transfer of money
American dollars are being transfered to the Bush cronies...the Iraq war is the conduit.
I really don't know what is going on with the Iraq banks and such...they might have been sold to the highest bidder...the water...electric...ect...The whole country is being raped, the USA and Iraq

6. Unless of course high oil prices WAS the goal... |
|
After all, the price of extracting oil from Texas soil hasn't increased, but the profit margin sure has!
