Here is a poem I wrote which describes my feelings about being sent to Iraq. I knew we were sent under false pretenses. I joined the Army after 9-11. I believed in the cause for the war in Afganistan and Iraq. I believed in the President of the United States of America and what he had to say about the weapons of mass destuction. I was at Camp Bucca, near the port of Umm-Quasar for 5 in a half months, then Abu-Ghraib prison for another 6 months. Just let us do our job...
I did an 8 month tour in Afghanistan, and 4 months in Iraq. In both tours I noticed something that still bothers me. Commanders not letting us do our job to the fullest of our ability. I was an assitant team leader for an LLVI (low level voice intercept) team (or SOT-A if you're in the SF world). We work in a 3-4 team and go out like scouts or LRS-D and covertly hide somewhere and monitor the air for any radio signals and have an interpretuer tell us what they're saying, and our equipment would ...
