it is official.the invasion was illegal-no WMD's.we were deceived. by omission of dissenting information, congress was deceived.the oil for food explanation is weak, but now has become political justification. the war itself is a political issue. where is the outrage for the carnage and damage of the sovereign nation of iraq.?30,000 deaths, infrastructure demolished, the occupation, our biggest American embassy, 14 military bases, haliburton gutting the resources, unemployed citizens. this has all been done in our name by a dictatorship that stole the presidency. we watch the debates and get excited for our guy, the media spins information to lull us and we participate in their "polls". WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? WE HAVE NUKED A NATION OF INNOCENT PEOPLE WHO DID NOT POSE A THREAT TO US. We need to rise up to face the fact that we are guilty, our government did these things. not the "other side" - OUR COUNTRY. this is not political fodder it is our reality, our karma. we murdered these people and destroyed their country

2. the average American doesn't give a flying f*** about Iraq |

I'm convinced of this. As long as they can gas up their SUVs and buy garbage at Wal-Mart - hey, everything is OK. In their minds the economy - WHEN IT AFFECTS THEM - is what it will take to get disillusioned with Boy George.

I remember, in around 1968, as a vet and college student, "disrupting" a polySci class that was taught by a Marxist. He agreed with our efforts, but remarked, "The war will end when enough body bags come home, and the American people start reaching for their wallets to pay for it."
Sadly, it's all too true about this quagmire in Iraq. "Bread and Circuses" have been replaced by Wal-Mart and Nascar.

3. An execution of the innocents. |

BushCorp went to war allegedly in response to 9/11. Just as the people in the WTC had no direct responsibility for the plight of the Palestinians, and were executed by the terrorists, so too were the Iraqis, who had no part in 9/11, executed for a crime they didn't commit.
Saddam was a bad man, but his country was crumbling, his military was an ill trained, demoralized force, with rusting equipment. He posed a threat to nobody except his own people. It was just a matter of time until he would be overthrown or assasinated.
Did all of those casualties, American, British, etc, and all of the Iraqis die in vain? The only answer can be, yes.
