IF God forbid the election were a contested mess
like 2000 and God forbid Scalia and his gang of thugs were to get their slimy paws on it and call it for Bush......how many of my fellow DUers think we would take to the streets? I'd really like to think people would; but part of me thinks most would cry into their beers and stay at home. Obviously we are MUCH better prepared for such a fiasco this time around but what if?

Honest I don't believe it will be close however I have no doubts that the Repukes will fuck with it to make it APPEAR close.

1. I would welcome a contested election
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 01:17 PM by wuushew
if the loss or tie was legitimate not a win as the case in 2000.

A messy election might speed the cause of election and electoral reform in this country.

2. Better prepare for one
One some level, it will be bitterly contested.

As Kerry pulls ahead due to the "sanity factor", the flying monkeys will seize the intiative to wreck havoc. We're going to see "Florida" in a couple states.

Whoever wins will not be accepted as legitimate. This is disturbing.

3. I would protest
I was talking with a fellow volunteer at the Kerry/Edwards HQ in my town. She's from India and was living in Europe at the time of our last election. She said people in India and Europe were surprised, and disappointed, at how the American people just accepted the last election, and just accepted stopping the recounts. I was too.

5. We Didn't Accept It
Booosh draws large protests everywhere he goes, and has ever since the
inauguration,
which featured demonstrators throwing eggs at his limousine.
The motorcade bolted and Boosh skulked into the White House
for the first time as pResident through the back door like a thief. Fitting.

You probably didn't see that on TV.

6. They show it on F911--priceless. Looks like Junta takeover, but
of course, the general pop. is so FAT it could only be America.

7. The rest of the world's reaction would be as important
Especially if * won by a clear, indisputable vote.

Polls, FWIW, claim it's a dead heat.

Not to mention the 'problems' many areas are experiencing with new systems and now reporting, how odd... Is this the October surprise?

8. I'm expecting it will be a contested mess
No matter what the outcome.

If Kerry wins I expect that the Repubs will scream that it was fixed and maybe even point to the exposure of BBV machines to make their point. In other words, they will say the Democrats hacked the machines.

In 2000 I was pissed, but I never thought a Bush administration would be THIS bad.

In 2002 I got involved, worked on a campaign, followed polls around the country for close Congressional races and was literally clinically depressed after the election.

Now, I know more than I did then. I have a clearer understanding of how they did it, who the players are, how the system is supposed to work and how it really does.

This time, I am involved, working on campaigns and fully intend to come out fighting on November 3rd if Bush somehow maintains his hold on the White House.

George W. Bush belongs in jail - not in the White House!
