Seattle area: Tom DeLay to help Dave Reichert's campaign
For those of you not familiar with this area Dave Reichart is the King County sheriff. He also likes to tout tha fact that he was on the Green River task force which in my opinion took way too long to catch the Green River Killer.

OLYMPIA - Republicans are cranking into high gear to try to keep control of the suburban 8th Congressional District being vacated by Rep. Jennifer Dunn.

Dunn, who is retiring, has parlayed her clout to bring House Majority Leader Tom DeLay to Western Washington for a private fund-raiser today for King County Sheriff Dave Reichert.

The appearance will certainly serve to swell Reichert's war chest, but DeLay has been under fire in the House for ethics violations and is an easy target for Democratic criticism.

"Why has Dave Reichert invited the extremely conservative, ethically challenged Tom DeLay to a closed-door fund-raiser in the 8th Congressional District?" Paul Berendt, chairman of the Washington state Democrats, asked rhetorically. "Who does Dave Reichert want to represent -- Tom DeLay's conservative, win-at-all-costs wing of the Republican Party or the independent voters of the 8th Congressional District?"

2. Poor Dave Reichert
He just doesn't seem to be very bright. I think he believes he has good intentions but he is totally out of his league in this race. He probably just doesn't know any better about DeLay. Certainly this isn't a good excuse--but you know--he's just not very smart.
