The most pernicious effects of Bush's Presidency will reveal
themselves in the next two or three decades. While his war on Iraq has almost certainly stirred the consciousness of Arabs/muslims everywhere that they are in a fight for survival against Western Imperialism, the more damaging effects may well be felt in the domestic arena. His unholy alliance with the most mindless fundamentalist religious reactionaries has now set our country back centuries after the Western world embraced Reason and Logic as the very basis of its enlightened civilization. Now we have the spectacle of a Jerry falwell talking about Creationism, opposition to stem cell research with pseudo scientific rationales and assorted knownothings concocting one idiot theory after another based on biblical authority.

Unfortunately, these knownothings want to impose their mindless ideas on the next generation through coercion of school boards to adopt these idiocies as part of the curricula in our schools. And this comes at a time when ancient civilizations like China and India have enthusiastically embraced Western ideas of logic, science and reason are progressing faster toward the kind of society that ahs already produced rich rewards for our people. If Bush gets elected this time, expect the knownothings to do incalculable damage to us and our children.

The growing trend of deriding intelligence, knowledge and anything that's different from their black-and-white worldview is very disturbing. If it continues, US will lose its lead in scientific and technological research and invention to India and China within a generation or two. In a knowledge and service based economic order, that will be a killer blow.

8. Creepy Freepy
Can you just hear a freeper fundie say it? "Intelligence is overrated" LOL :) Hey, they came close when they brushed aside the Kerry intellectualism that defeated their god-chosen hero's dogmatism.

5. Roe v Wade aside
this is another of the most powerful arguments why this election is so important to the country in the form of the SCOTUS.
