I'm so angry right now... Someone destroyed my sign..
argggghhh. we left for a nice dinner around 9pm, just came home to find my sign is gone and only the metal frame is left. i'm in democrat country too. i'm so pissed off right now.

who does this kinda stuff? who is that worried that Bush might lose that they feel the need to remove Kerry signs from other lawns???

you know, i've never really paid too much attention to others on here who have come home to find the same thing as i just did. i didn't think it would happen to me. this makes me hate this country and what Bush has done to it more than ever.

damnit.

2. I hear ya'
We drove the metal tines five inches into the ground and attached the sign to the metal frame by poking holes through along the top and tying it down with those plastic one-way wire ties. We may yet spray it down with cooking spray, if we get paranoid enough. There are four or five Kerry signs on my immediate block -- and only three Bush* signs, which is a bit of an anomaly for this part of town -- and none of them has been messed with in the two or three weeks they've been up ... but still I worry.

We also made sure the spot we put the sign was within the motion sensor of the security light out in front of our house.

Need I say this -- we shouldn't have to worry this much about a simple mylar sign run over a piece of wire. It's a load of shit that people on either side trespass and vandalize each other's property in an effort to keep them from having their say. I feel annoyance seeing Bush* signs, too, but the most I might do is flip the bird where nobody can see it while I'm inside the car. I sure as hell wouldn't waste karma and take a chance on getting arrested by vandalizing and trespassing -- what kind of mentality do you have to have, to do that shit?

3. Put up a new one.
I'm beginning to think that a lot of the sign vandalism is done for no particular political purpose, but by people who simply think it's amusing to vandalize yard signs. They may or may not be targeting any one candidate.

I'm running for office. I put up my yard signs last weekend. I got a call from someone in a house next to one with my yard sign, because his sign for another candidate (there are three in my race) had disappeared when mine went up. I did not do it, nor did the volunteer who put up my signs in that area take the other ones. And I'm furious, because I now look bad, and I would NEVER steal other yard signs or let my volunteers think that's okay.

I do realize that other sign stealing is directed against the campaign involved. But my advice is still, put up a new sign.

I called the other candidate and told her what had happened and that I was not responsible and I thought it was despicable and assured her I am not behind the theft.

7. Put more up, and stake out your yard with a camera.
Get the fuckers on film, then post them everywhere. Bust them, they'd bust you without a second thought.
