I was aghast when I discovered that Americans DIDN'T vote on a non-work day. How the hell can you maintain a democracy that way????

That was in 1980. It makes no sense unless you want to keep attendence down like the repukes surely do. We know how they feel about a real "Democracy".

the constitution of the U.S. says that the election must be held on the "first Tuesday after the first Monday in November." We would have to change that. Also, the President used to be inaugurated on March 4, but we changed that to January 20.
