2. Another way to imagine it
What if you landed a job that paid $1 a second, $3600 an hour? And it paid 'round the clock, 7 days a week? You'd have to live longer than 2750 years to collect $87 billion.

That's the total Federal spending for 2004 on Education, training, employment, and social services. $87.2 billion. That includes
  • Elementary, secondary, and vocational education
  • Higher education
  • Research and general education aids
  • Training and employment
  • Other labor services
  • Social services
