A truck with images of abortions on it right under a Kerry/Edwards logo
Edited on Sun Oct-10-04 01:13 PM by The Night Owl
I was driving around this morning and I saw a huge truck with images of abortions on it right under a Kerry/Edwards logo. I pulled up next to the truck while stopped at a red light and honked to get the driver's attention so I could flip him off, but he refused to acknowledge me. I guess he gets that a lot. The truck's license plate indicated that it was from Kansas.

1. That Truck Was Part of a Fleet
They're driving around the country. They were in Colorado Springs and Pueblo last month.

3. Why am I surprised?
My brain just doesn't have places in it to go that conger idea like this. The level of deceit and subliminal influence on the public should be outlawed. This is too far over the line of decency to be allowed to stand. If its Sunday morning, it must be med time.

5. I'm afraid the populace will have to decide it's "too far over the line
of decency."

We have been far too complacent in what we allow. This nation of sheep figures as long as people have the money to do things like this, it's OK.

That's why I think we need to do the same thing with billboards of dead and severely injured Iraqi children until people start screaming "Basta!"

There are lots of anti-war people who have given all they are legally allowed to give to campaigns. They could fund such a move.

14. Guess we need one of mangled Iraqis above Bush's logo...
...why are innocent Iraqi babies and children who were murdered, butchered, or maimed by BUSH'S BOMBS not "valued" as much as some microscopic goo that was "murdered" in an abortion? What a bunch of hypocrites.

17. You seem to have very divided thougths on this issue.
I agree that it's very thought-provoking, and very difficult to figure out a strategy.

One thing is certain, however....... doing nothing will only allow it to continue. Complaining about it on a 'ent forum is what we've been doing for a long time. At some point, we need to get together to form a coherent strategy.

They've managed to take over all the issues because we've been too nice to combat them.

23. I don't understand your question.
You agreed with me, and also agreed with the person who disagreed with me.

:)

As I said, it's not easy to formulate strategy on this stuff.

2. It needs to be matched by a truck with Iraqi dead children.
Fight fire with fire.

Until people get so sick of being bombarded by fighting in this way they call a halt to it.

Regardless of how one feels about abortion, the highways and roadways of America are not the place to display horrifying and graphic images.

First of all, drivers might be shocked or distracted by large and graphic images on trucks. Shocked or distracted drivers are much more likely to cause accidents. How would the people who are putting images of abortions on their trucks feel if some driver, distracted by the images, were to plow their vehicle through a crowd of kids?

Second, children should not be confronted with graphic images unless their parents want them to be confronted with such images. Putting such images on trucks takes that right away from parents.

What we should do is form some kind of committee to sue the people who are putting these graphic images on trucks.

10. It's been going on for a long time, now
The Catholic church sends these pictures in the mail to homes, so obviously they aren't too concerned about what children see.

If it's possible to sue to stop these idiots, fine, do so.

However, I doubt that's going to happen, as I don't think they've broken any laws, and according to our system, if they have the money and aren't invading private property illegally, they can do whatever. We've conceeded so much territory already, it's time to stop allowing them to use any and all crappy ways to scare people with over-emotional tactics.

The US people are going to have to be the ones to say "STOP".

15. My thoughts exactly...
...about the images causing accidents. Furthermore, a young child who sees things like that would probably be horrified - it's not right to subject kids to some neo-con's political message.

4. So dufuses would rather support Bush by buying tons of diesel
than adopt an orphan and feed it instead?

Pro-life or pro-oil?

16. I've always said...

If the anti-choicers spent even 1% of an ioda of the time they spent on picketing, protesting, bombing, harassing, or scaring pro-choicers (or moderates) and actually volunteered at an orphanage, worked to promote birth control to reduce abortions, or put their money where they mouth is and ADOPTED a child whose mother "chose life", maybe we wouldn't think they were such hypocrites.

IMHO, if you don't adopt children you've got no right to say you're "pro-life". You want all these kids here so badly but don't want to be the one to take care of all of them.

19. One step further
Oh, but the big preference in adoption is a near damn perfect and healthy WAS potential child, under the age of 18 mo. If the child is older, has physical and or mental disability, is drug-affected, or not a WAS, they don't usually get adopted.

Folks will even go abroad to adopt a baby rather than deal with the domestic system, or the "leftovers"....

11. It's their strongest "issue,"

but it turns off more people than it attracts, and they've actually lost some of the anti-choice vote because people who watched the debates saw that Kerry isn't the demon they were led to believe.

This sort of tactic often backfires.

I commented about this several weeks ago when Notre Dame had their first home game. I saw this truck making loops around the Notre Dame campus. I keep hoping I will see it again because I have a little suprise for them this time.

20. Be careful
I have been researching the maggots who put these abortion images on trucks, and apparently they have been successful in suing people who mess with them.

Don't do anything illegal.
