And yes, I have a co-worker. Dedicated earnest evangelist. Thinks abstinence programs work. Thinks SEan Hannity is a tower of journalistic integrity. Supports the death penalty. Supports the rights of zygotes over the woman carrying them. Thinks watching Fox news and CNN is doing his duty to listen to all sides. Prays to God, who answers him. Yes, he actually thinks his internal proddings are god's voice. God tells him to vote for Bush.

I tried to explain some facts to him. He has alot of respect for me and also respected the fact that we were able to talk without getting argumentative. He so earnestly wants to do right, its sad to see how very indoctrinated he is. Maybe a fact or two that I gave him started a wheel turning somewhere. He seemed to stop a second when I told him about the thousandthousands of women and infants dying because of SmirkCo gag rule, which killed many women's health clinics in 3rd world nations. He didn't quite believe me when I tried to explain some of Gov. Bush's executions in Texas--mocking the woman who pleaded for her life, showing no mercy to the man whose legal defense slept through the trial.

I dunno. Did anything stick? I hope so. don't think I want to talk politics with him anymore, though. Talking to walls gets frustrating.

9. Yes, we have 3 neighbors who believe that.

One of them was in our home and heard me say the war was wrong. She went ballistic, saying we must not question our leaders. She said Bush did not even need the election, he was chosen by God. It was a battle for good and evil, she said.

We were shocked, asked her why Iraq was invaded..she said you know...the tower thing. I said how would you feel to find out that Iraq did not do the tower thing.....she nearly flipped.

We asked her to leave. Two other neighbors are not quite as far gone, but they do believe that Bush was appointed by God. And yes, they have said so. They had signs last year in their yards...given out by their church....saying we support the war, we support the president.

Incidentally the latter two I mention are school teachers with masters.

They live in Phili. They must be mad that their local paper endorsed John Kerry. Also my step daughter-in-law has my 4 step grand daughters saying to vote for bush, he's our christian president. 22. Another thought here. Putting words in God's mouth

could possibly be blasphemy and would also seem to break both the first and second commandments. Anyone else see a conflict here between traditional Christianity and the claims that God has chosen anyone above any other? It comes in conflict with the tradition of free will. It states that God gives us a choice between good and evil and doesn't interfere with our choices. I don't think any real Christian would make the claims the Bush backers are making about Bush being chosen.

Off topic.. but today there was a limo with an elephant statue on the roof and tons of bush/Chaney and keep marriage sacred signs on it on display. It looked fanatical to say the least. The Republicans are campaigning hard here in rural south Georgia. Makes me think they are worried about losing their base.
