Indeed, binding resolutions foresaw a "reinforced system of monitoring and verification" without any fixed end. Even if economic sanctions were to have been lifted, any "breakout" by Saddam would have caused loud alarm bells to ring.

This is the reason our invasion was not necessary at the time, contrary to what Bush/Cheney claimed. The U.N.'s timetable would have been sufficient to head off any WMD efforts by Saddam. There was no need for war.

It's amazing that the American people aren't protesting this awful situation in massive ways. How could half of the Country still think that the attack on Iraq was the correct thing?
