Is This Sinclair Smear of Kerry An Example of Fascism? |
|
Isn't Fascism the convergance of government and corporate self interest. I'm not really a student of the rise of fascism in the early 20th century, but it sure seems like it is spreading from sea to shining sea.

3. Yes, your definition is correct. |

That is pretty much a direct quote from Mussolini, the engineer of modern fascism. What's even more creepy is that Mussolini began his takeover by aquiring as much of the media as he could.

Fascists try to control free speech by saying anything against their war ambitions hurts the troops. This has been a theme since Bush took office.

Perhaps this is a job for the ACLU. Was Kerry offered equal time?

I doubt the leadership in both parties would ditch the election system in favor of one that bans outside money and is run with taxpayer dollars exclusively. You're asking them to bite the hand that feeds them.
It would take a mass opposition movement from the outside to apply pressure on them to change. Until that happens, don't expect Kerry or Bush to mention anything as far as true, comprehensive election reform (i.e. subsidized election system, abolition of the Electoral College, institution of run-off or instant run-off elections for all federal seats, etc.). The corporate/special interest influence over government is simply so strong.
