1. I am in two of those stations' range |
|
And I am penning a letter of intention to boycott right now. It would be wonderful to have a coordinated effort.

But, I barely have enough time for DU right now. All the rest is volunteering at my local Democratic Campaign. I should probably not commit myself any more. But, thanks, and good luck.

Make it visible to the non-DU crowd. We need picket lines at the advertisers themselves. Let's make them join the effort to stop this.

5. I think massive emailing, call-ins, letter-writing (LTTE), and protests... |
|
...would get some kind of response. At the very least, Americans would know what to expect when this piece of trash hits the air.

8. I agree,... all out war on Sinclair! |
|
I've seen enough of Mark Hyman's hate speech on my local station. The airwaves belong to the people not these pigs (and I rarely use that term)

Regarding Sinclair Broadcasting's Plan to Preempt Regular Broadcasting To Air Blatantly Anti Kerry Smear and Violate FCC Regulations:
Electioneering Restrictions and Disclosure Under The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA), state: "funds from corporations (whether nonprofit or for-profit entities) and unions may not be used to pay for 'electioneering communications', which are broadcast, cable, or satellite communications that:
- refer to a clearly identified Federal candidate;
- are broadcast within 60 days before the general election of the candidate or within 30 days before the party primary, convention, or caucus that nominates the candidate;
- are targeted to the "relevant electorate," i.e., over 50,000 persons in the State or district that the candidate seeks to represent.
Exemptions are provided for news stories, commentaries, editorials, and candidate debates and forums. BCRA gives the FEC authority to make additional exemptions, so long as they do not promote, support, attack, or oppose a Federal candidate."
Please be advised that if you go along with this preemption, there will be a boycott of your sponsors that will begin immediately and I will actively participate in the organization and execution of the boycott.

10. It's pretty simple, isn't it? |
|
Who are their advertisers?
Do not buy anything from them. Send letters to the editors that you are not buying anything from them and why.
What is so difficult about this?

11. people must monitor their local Sinclair owned stations |
|
and list their advertisers. I would love to see a group effort to list those here. Our local papers have published numerous letters of complaint about Sinclair. The station (WLOS) has literally received thousands of letters of complaint in particular about Sinclair's censorship of the Nightline segment "The Fallen" On that occasion there was a public demonstration outside of WLOS. There is also a local group monitoring the news casts: www.sinclairwatch.net

If you plan on contacting Sinclair sponsors make sure you include the threat of a picket in front of their company. Mention how you have many people lined up to do just that. I promise that will get big time results (especially small businesses).
By the way, anyone working on a list of sponsors for people who don't live in Sinclair areas. I would love to start sending letters but I need to know who their advertisers are.

that one wanted to protest the actions of a media company.
One could sell stock in and boycott the company and it's advertisers.
Now, I'm not saying that this is what we should do -- but investors need to protect their investments -- and consumers need to use their buying power to get what they want. -- And a boycott takes some time to have a pronounced effect.
The prime target would be the media company itself, of course. But advertising is where that company will get much of its revenue stream -- so well, you know. And, of course, it takes some time to figure out who these advertisers are -- or remain.
Protest letters, etc, have some place, but you know what they say -- "Hit them where it hurts -- in the pocketbook".
And, hey, this is a blatant attempt to have the images of this "slander-ama" as the (near, anyway) last thing in the minds of voters when they go vote.
