How is Gen. Shalikashvili doing? |
|
I remember him speaking at the covention saying "I come to you tonight as a new democrat." Then, shortly after, he had, from all accounts, a bad stroke. How's he doing now? Anyone?

4. Polish? He was ethnically Georgian |
|
Just FYI ...
-ashvili is a Georgian Caucasian patronymic suffix, much like -ski (and its variations) in Polish, Russian, and other Slavic languages.
For instance, Stalin's name at birth was Joseph Djugashvili.
He could be ethnically Polish, too, through his Mother's side of the family. But I always thought he was born in the Gerogian S.S.R.
An impressive guy under any circumstances!

2. Was wondering the same. |

Thought he was in pretty bad shape around the time of the Democratic National Convention if I remember correctly.
