Christopher Reeve in Remains of the Day
One of my favorite speeches of all time.

a quote:

"You are amateurs and international affairs should not be run by amateurs. We don't need gentlemen politicians, but real ones."

1. I want to make a suggestion
But I don't have enough posts to start a thread yet so I am going to post here (I hope you don't mind, it is related to Christopher Reeve).

As a symbol of respect and mourning for Christopher Reeve, who was such an icon of strength and optimism in the face of the loss of all hope, I suggest that DUers who feel personally affected by the loss of Christopher Reeve to change their avatars to the superman avatar (superman.gif) until his funeral.

I know it is not much and there are many other things we can do as well such as donating to stem cell research, but by doing this we can give a show of support and mourning that comes unified from DU as a whole.

If someone with the posting privileges likes this idea and wants to repost in its own thread, feel free.

7. Thank you
When sad things like this happen, it always helps to know there are others out there feeling the same as you.

11. I think it's a lovely suggestion. Done.
It's the least we can do for a man who has done so much for us.

Sigh.
