Should Ann Coulter be put on the govt. "Do Not Fly List"?
A case can be made that the rhetoric of Ann Coulter promotes, encourages and excuses terrorism. Under the provisions of the USA Patriot Act, which she strongly supports, the executive branch may designate a person as a terrorist threat and take the appropriate investigative measures.

Here is an example of her dangerous rhetoric:

Then she said: "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

http://www.observer.com/pages/story.asp?ID=6258

Or her own column, which essentially calls for a Holy War, conquest of the Middle East and targeting of civilians.

We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war.

http://www.nationalreview.com/coulter/coulter091301.shtml

She then defended those remarks again in her new book.

Her 9/11 comments: “I am often asked if I still think we should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity. The answer is: Now more than ever!”

She recently called for baseball batting liberals.

http://mediamatters.org/items/200410070004

LINDA VESTER (FOX news hostess): You say you'd rather not talk to liberals at all?

COULTER: I think a baseball bat is the most effective way these days.

Somewhere, some fragile person is going to hear this stuff and be pushed over the edge and they will do something awful. Coulter's violence inciting remarks could make such people feel as if they are morally justified. I would argue that this woman is dangerous and for the federal government to continue to allow her to freely use the nation's airlines would not be prudent. If a Muslim made similar statements about the US, conservatives or the Bush Administration that person would probably be at Gitmo today.

1. Time for Ashcroft to put his money where his mouth is.
I agree wholeheartedly with your points, especially:

>Coulter's violence inciting remarks could make such people feel as if they are morally justified. <

I'm not kidding and I know you're not either.

3. Ann Coulter is a poor excuse for entertainment. period.
And she marches to the bank similarly as does Howard Stern.

They are all in the same ball game. It's called, "I'll say anything that I can get away with, as long as it makes money for me."

Politics is secondary to these hedonistic sleazy money-grabbers. Don't be fooled by Stern's petulance about the FCC or Bush or whomever else. Because if it impedes Stern's road to the bank, then he like Coulter will attack it.

coulter has done it on a number of occassions, and i do NOT get the impression that she's joking. i think she's honestly trying to move the country toward violence against liberals.

12. As much as I hate her --
The no fly list should be tossed when Kerry takes over.

I do think that she should be held accountable for the horrible things she says. Plus I do believe she is in part responsible for the violence that has been introduced to politics.

She should be taken to court by a kick ass liberal lawyer for encouraging violence. I do believe there is a law against yelling "fire" in a crowded theater -- and this is what she is doing.

16. It's my understanding that Ann Coulter IS a lawyer, and I might . . .
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 05:54 AM by TaleWgnDg
add, a total embarrassment to the legal profession.

However, if you don't like her antics, then file a complaint against her at her state lawyers licensing board. Do some homework. Find out in which state(s) she holds a law license; find out how to file a written, signed complaint against her; and do so. I am not suggesting that it will fly, i.e., by being successful; but, hell, it beats whining about her. I say this w/ tongue-in-cheek.

Btw, there's something in our U.S. constitution -- the first amendment, the free speech prong. It protects ALL OF US not just Attorney Ann Coulter from her ability to bad-mouth whomever she so choses to bad-mouth, however crappy it may be. Unless, as w/ anyone else, her speech causes an imminent threat that incites others to cause harm to others, then, legally speaking, she may be shut-up. But I doubt it since the burden is too great to prove, i.e., the alleged threat to harm speech and/or the alleged timeframe to fruition of that harmful speech.

Ummm, have I put you to sleep, yet?

. . . . . . . . .

15. Coulter abets terrorism with her remarks
about Islam. I wouldn't be surprised if her remarks aren't repeated by al Qaeda recruiters to "prove" that the US is out to destroy the faith.
