Why did the Las Vegas Review endorse Bush?
I finished the Kitty Kelley book this afternoon and in it there is mention that when Bush was Governor he was against casino gambling, for moral reasons.

But after reading the Kelley book it becomes clear that Bush doesn't do ANYTHING for moral reasons.

I'd bet the house that the endorsement is the result of a Las Vegas gambling lobby that's in bed with the Bush administration and the editorialist that wrote the endorsement.

1. Translation: "against casino gambling, for moral reasons" actually means
"I do not have a financial stake in it yet, and so I will try to stop it until I do."

2. ..because they are the conservative wing of the
same media corporation that owns the Las Vegas Sun, the liberal wing daily.

4. That is like asking why the Chicago Trib does something conservative.
That is just who they are... The same can be said of several other city newspapers with a conservative bent.

One thng to remember, however, is that there are large geographic parts of Nevada that are actually pretty conservative in spite of the image of Las Vegas and Reno as party towns.

5. But Bush hasn't come out against gambling
in LAS VEGAS. I "bet" he wouldn't remove restrictions on it nationwide though (not sure if that's a state issue though). If Vegas is one of the few places to gamble, it's great for them.

6. The LVRJ
The LVRJ ranks right down there with the Manchester (NH) Union-Leader and the Moonie-owned Washington Times as a right wing kook rag. They're very big into Sagebrush Rebellion, property rights type issues and are anti-labor to boot. It was a given that they'd endorse the vile, despicable Bush regime.

Las Vegas residents and visitors should read the other daily instead, the Sun.
