Jack Cafferty trashing Air America... again!
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 08:06 AM by Flubadubya
Cafferty was whining about getting a lot of negative feedback when he compared Air America to a plane crash that happened recently, so, he apparently felt it "incumbent" upon him to "clear that up" (his words).

In order to "clear that up" he proceeds to continue to belittle and demean the radio station by first calling it "whatever that is", and then on to discussing Air America's share of the markets. He proudly crowed that AA only has 35 markets whereas Limbaugh, Hannity, and O'Reilly have 400+. (In the background Andy Sewell is goading him on by indicating that 35 markets was only 10% of the total markets in the country).

He also went on to point out how AA is not in Chicago or Los Angeles and what important markets those were. Having thoroughly trashed the station by downplaying its market share (of course, never mentioning that that is steadily growing), he concluded that he felt he had "cleared that matter up" and told AA supporters to "Now, leave me alone!".

Let's NOT leave him alone, lets lambaste the bastard for such a slimy piece of trash! jack.cafferty@cnn.com

1. If you're pissing off a "Mr. Wilson" type like Cafferty, you're doing ok!
Thanks for the plug, Jack! He is the most bitter fuck on TV. They can pass his curmudgeony shtick off as personality but I sense career disappointment.

3. Hell, a startup radio network with no real radio stars on 35 stations?
I think they're doing very well.

Nobody expects this thing to hit 400 stations in six months. This is a work in progress. There are so many conservative-formatted talk stations that it's not really difficult for many hosts to rack up affiliates. A broadcast professional should realize that. How many radio stations is Jack Cafferty on? Yeah, I thought so.

As far as LA is concerned, AAR rumors have been heating up again. Stay tuned.

4. So how is it compared to a plande crash?
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 08:12 AM by TrueAmerican
The host have been given a 20 percent pay raise. The station list is growing faster than most new startups. The ratings are beating the other talk show stations in their market.

But than again, CNN is the station that laughed at Fox News and now they are getting trounced by them. If you want to see a station crashing, that would be CNN, the bigger they are the harder they fall. CNN is like the Titatic and it is now sinking.

5. It was 35 out of just over 250. Which isn't bad for only a few months of
existence.

The other shows have been on a lot longer. Pigboy has been on since the early 80's and the rest have been on for years.

Just how many stations did Pigboy have his first few YEARS? - about 10 I think.

AA is quite remarkable by comparison.

7. You are absolutely right...
that they are doing quite well. The problem with Cafferty (and CNN) is that they have singled out a "liberal, left wing" (again Jack's words) organization for derision. What's the deal, what's the point? They don't like Faux News, but you don't see them going off on a diatribe about it to this magnitude.

This was really some nasty shite! He was on a vendetta, and just because the station is "liberal". I really hope he has to eat his words and a very healthy portion of crow pie someday... SOON! GO AIR AMERICA! :bounce: :bounce:

6. YEah, but...
Their Arbitron ratings, their influence and their footprint(when internet streaming is factored in...) is more than he is letting on.

Screw that bitter old prune. Who cares.

8. Done--My e-mail to Jack the Ass:
I heard your remarks this morning concerning Air America. Since you seem to be somewhat challenged when it comes to new technologies--I would like to remind you that millions listen to Air America via Satellite Radio and through download streams via the internet (or internets, according to the President). The truth is that in the markets that Air America does air, they have scored impressive victories over the likes of Hannity, O'Reilly, and the self-admitted drug-addict Rush Limbaugh. I believe CNN made a similar mistake in not taking Fox News seriously in their startup days and I think we all know how that turned out, judging by the cable news ratings.

10. Linbaugh may have 400+ affiliates, but he used to have 600+.
Radio stations from coast to coast are dropping Pigboy left and right.

But this Cafferty dork sounds like a man who's not about to let something as inconvenient as facts get in the way of a good tirade! :eyes:

13. Actually he did note Limbaugh with 600+
I just stated the lowest number, then + for all three RW-Wackos named (Hannity, O'Reilly, and Limbaugh) rather than delineating each one. It was Hannity & O'Reilly who were around 400. I wasn't trying to be coy, just succinct.

14. Let the old fart rant
More publicity for Air America.

First they ignore you.
Then they ridicule you.
Then they fight you with everything they've got.
Then you win.

Looks like Air America is passing from stage 2 to stage 3 right about now, and CNN passes further and further into irrelevance as it strives to become Faux with a patina of gravitas.

Dear Mr. Cafferty:

CNN has been in business for 20 years and has, what -- 1 million daily viewers??

In six months, Air America has at least 2 million daily listeners. So, WHO has more daily listeners? Air America, or CNN? Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!

17. here's mine:
Air America listener here (and not CNN viewer)

I got news of your last rant via the "internets".
I think you had more viewership on WPIX news....Bye bye CNN and all the other Bush cheerleaders. Talk to the hand.
Air America has more audience at any moment only on streaming after only a few month on the air (started end of March 2004, not 20 years ago).
You are now sounding almost as desperate as Furious George.

This is a hard country to defend
