Actually, there is plenty of sea breeze and that keeps the humidity down. But A/C is a necessity.
As for work, the only jobs that you are likely to find available are in restaurants, motels, tourist shops, etc. Plus a few in marinas and other kinds of boating establishments, fishing, etc. Maybe an occasional office assistant job in a small business.
You might try looking for a job online in a place like Key West or Marathon.
Affordable housing is probably in short supply. The Keys is all oceanfront property, more or less.
But I love the Keys. It's a part of the country that's very funky and low key (pun not intended), and if you love the water, it's a great place.

Key West is a classic, Florida, service driven economic region. You will need to find a work in a bar, motel, restaurant, or moped shop. Housing is much more affordable off the key in Boca Chica or another neighboring key.
