Kerry "fled" Capitol on 9/11, pushing and shoving old people
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 06:32 PM by plastic_turkeys

Yes and there is the video circulating to "prove" it. I normally don't bring crap here to give it publicity but those who haven't seen this latest bit of conservative panic need to be forearmed. The neocons seeing their ship sinking are now saying Kerry ran like a girly man, ignoring people who needed help, (who was injured at the Capitol? Who didn't he "help"?) He shoved the elderly out of the way too. (Strom Thurmond?)

Sigh. I was worried that the election would be "close", now I am wondering if they will give up power willingly at all!

All I can say is: at this point, try to be patient with those who jump on the messenger when the message is distasteful.

It is only get worse in the next three weeks. I just try to keep in mind that passions are going to (and absolutely SHOULD) run high as we count down to this election upon which so much is riding. Lots of impulsive reactions are to be expected. Apologies can come later.

Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 06:38 PM by Jen6
Goes contrary to the recent NYT account; Kerry rushing to see if his staff were all right, making phone calls, etc. Kerry did not "flee" the threatened capitol, unlike *, who flew around the country being chased by phantom terrorists while the shit was hitting the fan!

On edit; now the gif is working for me. Actually, that's a great ad FOR Kerry; everyone else is running, but he's cool under fire (and, unlike Georgie, he was in a city that was actually attacked)!

I lost my ability to discern sarcasm from reality when the real news started sounding more implausible than a spoof article from The Onion.

If Bush were the fine reborn Christian he "claims" to be, he would stand up in front of God and everybody and DENOUNCE those who spread these lies and engage in character assassination. As a true believer (aka born-again Christian) I am now officially ashamed that he calls himself a follower of Jesus. I know...not mine to judge the state of a person's soul, but as Jesus himself said: "Wisdom is proved right by her actions."

Since I'm now convinced the lightning bolt I'd love to see won't strike, I can only continue to proclaim from the rooftops:

DEFEAT BUSH!!

whoops! Was 'posed to say DEFEAT BUSH! Got ahead of myself!

15. These anti-Kerry people are incredibly despicable to so blatantly lie
Amazing how the RW media is so shamefully dishonest and fails to adequately debunk even the most blatant anti-Kerry lies by the RW and Bushco, so that Bush/Cheney and the rest of the RW criminals feel free to continually spread huge whoppers, knowing that they won't be held accountable and will be believed by huge numbers of people.

I saw virtually no media coverage or fallout against Cheney's big lie about having never met Edwards before the debate when in fact he had met him three times before.

Here we go with another big lie slandering Kerry that will spread around and take a day or two to get debunked even though it totally contradicts the evidence.

16.  Meanwhile, * was is was FLORIDA...In a schoolroom, reading "My Pet Goat,"
...and, when informed specifically that "we are under attack," he, as chief executive and commander-in-chief of the U.S. and the U.S. Armed Forces, did precisely NOTHING for SEVEN minutes, then sidles along to a 20-minute photo-op.

And Kerry cooly evacuates the Senate Bldg. as instructed, per an in-place emergency plan.

So, therefore, to the average freeper, Kerry is clearly the "coward" here.

That's absolutely delusional.

32. As renegade says, thsi is not a panic post.
Everyone keeps saying we are validifying their stupidity by commenting on it, as if ignoring it makes it go away. Then it makes the rounds on TV and Carol Lin on CNN will be saying "Did Kerry flee on 9/11?"...MAKING it a 'valid' question to the casual viewer's mind. I am going more into the mindset that you need to know your enemy, not ignore him.

Anyone with half a brain can see that the women in the background take three steps for Kerry's one.

To any intelligent person, this shows that people are frantic and Kerry is calm.

Freepers are trying to get the focus off of Bush's "My Pet Goat" debacle:

21. LOL - funny - last week GOP said Kerry stayed at Capitol for 40 minutes!
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 06:57 PM by papau
So he FLED-

or he FROZE and STAYED?

On July 8th on Larry King, Kerry said "I was in the Capitol. We’d just had a meeting — we’d just come into a leadership meeting in Tom Daschle’s office, looking out at the Capitol. And as I came in, Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid were standing there, and we watched the second plane come in to the building. And we shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon. And then word came from the White House, they were evacuating, and we were to evacuate, and so we immediately began the evacuation."

And what was his responsibility in terms of an appropiate responce to seeing NBC's showing live the crash into the WTC?

I sat at a meeting. He sat at a meeting. This summer the right wing said that those of us that sat at a meeting for a half hour FROZE for much longer than the 7 minutes Bush is recorded and seen on the video freezing.

Now I understand he was ordered - like everyone else - to evacuate the building. And there is a video of him moving down the steps - not running in panic - just leaving the building. I saw no one injured at the Capitol, and Kerry shoved no elderly out of the way - do these folks even look at the video?

So "Why did he not help" is answered by "Help do what?"

The above is from memory as to what the video shows - but I am not even sure the "Capitol Steps" video was real, or somehow faked. In any case in July, 04, it showed no shove.

I'm curious as to the URL of this video. I'd like to see the current version.

Kerry's Undeclared War
By MATT BAI

Published: October 10, 2004

As New York and Washington were under attack on Sept. 11, 2001, a film crew happened to come upon John Kerry leaving the Capitol. The brief moment of footage, included in a BBC documentary called ''Clear the Skies,'' tells us something, perhaps, about Kerry in a crisis. The camera captures Congressional aides and visitors, clearly distraught and holding onto one another, streaming down the back steps of the Capitol building in near panic, following the bellowed instructions of anxious police. Off to one side of the screen, there is Kerry, alone, his long legs carrying him calmly down the steps, his neck craning toward the sky, as if he were watching a gathering rainstorm. His face and demeanor appear unworried. Kerry could be a man lost in his thoughts who just happens to have wandered onto the set of a disaster film.

And from this we get "FLED" - or FROZE - or both?

LOL

:-)

22. How pathethic of the right wing.
They are really having to dig from the bottom of the barrel if all they have is a video of Kerry evacuating from a terror threat. LMAO!!! Look at Kerry, he's evacuating! Oooooo! In the meantime, Bush jets all around the country hiding out in bunkers while most of us were wondering, 'Where the fuck is this nation's leader?' And he's supposed to be the one in charge.

33. He did.
John Kerry hates the bible. In fact, part of the reason he was running on the sidewalk is that a group of young christian soldiers were coming to try to save his soul. Kerry belongs to a satanic cult, headed by his wife and Hilary Clinton. This is the key to understanding 9-11.

especially when put next to the "I-just-crapped-myself" look on shrub's face, followed by seven minutes with a picture book!

The NYT had a story on this recently; it said that Kerry looked cool under pressure. He was looking up in the sky for hijacked aircraft, BTW.

31. At this late date, the freepers are only convincing themselves
... with this nonsense. The next thing we know, a security cam video will be posted "proving" that Kerry went through the Piggly-Wiggly express checkout lane with twelve items instead of ten. The freeper peanut gallery will go wild, but the really, really important group- the elusive swing or undecided voters- will find the controversy stupid.

This isn't the way to sway the few undecided folks, and we shouldn't be worried about it. If it hasn't worked up until now, it won't work now.

Nor should we try to emulate their approach. There's a lot of sh!tty stuff Bush has done, and I love hearing every new scandalito that reinforces my opinion, but these things aren't convincing the unconvinced. The time for those is past.

What will? It looks like the candidates' relative performances in the debates is working. Some combination of Kerry style + substance is reaching the crucial folk. Bush's "screaming elf" routine is reaching them, too.

42. Bring It On
They are desperate, they know that it is almost over for them. Let them try and make an issue of this. Kerry was clam and collected but Bush went into "blinky" mode until someone led him away to play hide & seek with Air Force One. Kerry has proved that he can keep his thoughts about him in combat, Bush can't even handle someone asking him a question in a debate.
