Forget October Surprise -- Are you worried about December Surprise???
Over the weekend, I had this horrible thought. Over the months, we have all been worrying about either an October surprise designed to sway the election, or Bush postponing the election if he thinks he might lose. (BTW, this seems still to be on the table with the infamous Congressional Research Service opinion that the executive has the authority to postpone the elections -- weirdly, still being leaked by Saint Colins State Department, here:
http://fpc.state.gov/fpc/34782.htm )

It occurred to me over the weekend that a more likely outcome is that Bush will lose the election. But then he will try to f**k up things so badly that Kerry will be in deep doodoo on inauguration day.

For example, for those of you who think that within the Bush crime family, the apple does not fall far from the tree, do you remember that Bush Sr. got the US bogged down in Somalia AFTER he lost the election and with only a few days left in his term?

See Somalia timeline at PBS, here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/ambush/etc/cron.html

Of course, Clinton was devastatingly sabotaged with the black hawk down incident which put him on the defensive with the repugs, who played on his so called draft dodger label and his attempt to integrate gays into the military.

When Bush II loses, do you think he will do something drastic in Iraq to mess up Kerry's first administration? A full scale attack on Faluja that will be a disaster by late January? Simultaneous attacks on the Sunni triangle and the shiite militias which the troops cannot possible maintain simultaneously?

Or will lame duck Bush do what is unthinkable even for an evil moron of criminal background like himself -- attack Iran's nuclear facilities AFTER he doesn't have to take responsibility for the resulting mess?

3. I'm beginning to remember ...
the Somalia intervention and how I felt about it then. Many of us thougt that Bush sr. was not just wrong, but dangerous and demented. He had put the country on a course of "one war per year" with Panama and Iraq and then Somalia, and the reaction of me and many friends about Somalia, was WTF???? is Bush doing and is he purposely trying to put Clinton into deep sh@t? I bet that if Bush jr loses, he will pull something like this -- especially since he already had troops in place in disasterous circumstances.

2. * is
currently sending the world to hell in a hand basket. As a lame dick "president," he will send the world to hell in a handbasket at super sonic speed.

4. Aren't there a number of other things waiting to go down until
after the election too? Mainly involving indictments? (Plame, etc.)

If they happened fast enough, maybe that would be the saving grace. Even if * does win the election.

Not the least of which is justifying the postponement of Iraq's elections. Not to mention the unadulterated hell the media will give him when soldiers start dying during his term. Which will happen, of course. I'm looking forward to the comparison's with Lyndon Johnson, myself.

But I think Sinclair is actually the October surprise we've been dreading.

7. Don't forget the electors!
I believe that many states have their electors promise to vote their electoral votes as they are won....BUT

don't be surprised that if bush loses by a small margin that can't be fixed by the SCOTUS he will try to turn some of the electors...

just a thought....
