Anybody watching NewsNight? Showed tape of airstrike on civilians.
I didn't catch the whole story, but it was taken from the plane and looked like a strike on a column of civilians in Falluja. They said this tape has been on the net for several months, and that the pentagon is saying these people were insurgents, but why would insurgents be walking in a straight line like that?

2. The Pentagon thinks that...
anybody who's in the way of an airstrike is an insurgent. Evidently they're able to sleep at night with these excuses.

Reminds me of that classic line....

"You might be an insurgent if...you get in our way."

3. If you are in Falujah...
you are an Insurgent. It doesn't matter if you are 90, 1 mo. old, a woman or teen. If you are there you may be killed or maimed.

Falujah is now a Free Fire Zone!

8. "You might be an insurgent if...you get in our way."
Same sentiment as, "Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out."

It only becomes more difficult to watch. Harder to live with. Necessary to take a stand and do something. And that is exactly the process so many of us went through in the Viet Nam era. You begin now to have an understanding of what motivated people like Fonda. And why the men who were doing those things turned so viciously against any of their own who protested it, like VVAW & JK. What you might not know is that Dan Rather was there, too. First time I ever noticed him he was in the jungle, with and reporting on a group of soldiers who was setting fire to a village. Dan was one of the first who brought the horror of what was going on there into American living rooms. He was as young as the soldiers, and clearly horrified by what they were doing. That was my turning point, and Dan remains a hero of sorts.

As I read these things again, all the same emotions rise up again. They are doing this in our name again. I, too, am sick - again. I'm not sure where we went wrong, maybe it was just assuming they would never be able to get away with doing it again.

4. It's part of the Insurgents training manual
When you hear American Fighter Jets overhead & you are in a "Hot Zone"

Group together out side in the street away from any possible protection that cover could provide you.

All good Insurgents know if you hear American Jets approaching round up your comrades and run out into the street to get a closer look.

I really don't think the pentagon gives a flying fuck if they were innocent civilians or insurgents. They decided they were a legit target
& bombs away Killing is their business.

5. Red Cross on Samarrah: Injured Residents Must Have Access to Hospitals
IRAQ: ICRC delivers aid in Samarrah

BAGHDAD, 7 Oct 2004 (IRIN) - Food, blankets, heaters and stoves have been handed out in Samarrah, some 125 km northwest of Baghdad, where US troops have killed more than 100 insurgents in recent days, according to International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) spokesman Ahmed al-Rawi.

More than 500 families have been displaced by fighting in recent weeks and are staying with friends and relatives in nearby villages, al-Rawi told IRIN in Baghdad.

"ICRC has expressed its concern over the fate of civilians in this conflict," the spokesman said. "All injured people should have access to hospitals."

Samarrah residents wave white flags whenever they came out of their houses to show they meant no harm to US forces, who are now in "mop-up" operations against insurgent forces.

6. I believe insurgent is another word
for Man Who Is Protecting His Homeland From Invaders. Please, if someone invaded the U.S. all the freepers would be out there with their semi-autos defending their homeland. They would call themselves freedom fighters. Funny what a little perspective does...

9. I watched that on the internet(s) and all I could feel was
ashamed. Especially if you got to hear the guys in the plane. They knew those people weren't insurgents, which by the way, the dictionary has only one word to explain insurgent - rebel, which is exactly what we would do if another country invaded us. The Iraqi people themselves have never done one thing to us, yet we are blowing up their old, children, men, women - doesn't seem to matter. I wish I had never looked at that video.

Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 10:40 PM by elf
a few weeks ago! I knew it and was very astonished, that Aaron showed it tonight.
He said, they had it for weeks and where checking, if they should air it!
Amnesty International condemned it, but the pentagon said all was correct!!!

(Sorry today my English is very bad, I'm in a bad mood! :-( )

BTW there is another video out there, they bombed an ambulance with a woman in labour! All dead!
Another case like a lot more, Amnesty is investigating!
