Secret Service Calls on Owner of "King George" Sign

It was August 26, and Derek Kjar, 19, was in the backyard of his home in Salt Lake City stringing up plants in his garden.

He got a voice mail message on his cell phone, so he decided to check it.

"Derek, this is Agent Kim from the U.S. Secret Service, and I need to speak to you as soon as possible. Please call me." Kim left his number, Kjar says.

"At first, I thought it was a joke," Kjar says. "My friend Marisa said, in jest, that they were trying to flag all the gay people in America." Kjar is gay.

He called his mother, and she told him to call the man back in the morning.

That's what he did.

1. Unbelievable, even in this kountry right now
Let's see.
I say, off with King George's Head too!
Oh, sorry, not gay.
But I was in the miltary.
I have taken drugs.
I have studies assinations, especially the ones the US CIA and BFEE committed.
No, I have never mailed a threat.
No, I have no intent of harming PRESIDENT Bush.

Since when is he a King, anyway?

2. Man, this is unbelievable.

I've read and written Sci-Fi stories like this, you know... Do you realize that cold sweat is beginning to form on my back at the thought of the kind of email correspondence I've written and received?

Interesting thought... I registered my membership for DU on a googlemail account, and we all know what google is like about privacy. I'm glad I live overseas (though that apparently did not deter the people who seized an internet server in the UK).

Btw: Just out of interest, what consequences could he have faced if the secret service decided there was more to this? Jail?

3. "My only regret with Timothy McVeigh...
...is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

Did the speaker of these words get investigated too?

4. Just think how busy they were chasing down the anti-Cliintonites
NOT !

I saw more hate, threats, and vitriol directed at Clinton than any President in history. Threats against the President must be taken seriously but this case is absurd. I thought we had enough real threats in this country than to worry about bumper sticker terrorists.

8. My first question would have been, "Who do think is King George?
We don't have a king in the USA, so how could this be a veiled threat to a non-existent entity?"

9. Which congressman threatened Clinton
saying something like "Clinton had better bring bodyguards if he visited... (Georgia|West Virgina|Alabama) can't recall which one. I actually thought it was Jesse Helms who made the unsubtle threat against the President's health... I wonder if the Secret Service gave him a shake down.

10. It's amazing that folks will still talk with the authorities without
a lawyer present.

11. Uh-oh.....
I've studied the activities of the Maquisards and other resistance groups (we call them "Insurgents" or "Terra-ists" in this country)

Guess that pegs me, now...

Hey, agent mike, how they hangin'? :hi:
