Faux to Be Fined One-millyone for Indecency
Too bad its on the "entertainment" side as opposed to the propaganda side.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The Federal Communications Commission (news - web sites) is said to be preparing to levy a fine of $1 million or more against Fox Broadcasting Co. and its affiliates for running afoul of indecency regulations in April 2003 with an episode of the reality show "Married by America," sources said.

The impending action, first reported in Monday's edition of Television Week, is expected to be announced by the commission as early as this week.

Fox officials declined comment, and FCC (news - web sites) representatives could not be reached for comment Monday because of the Columbus Day holiday. But sources said the content in question involved lascivious banter among "Married" contestants and a segment that involved contestants licking whipped cream off each other's bodies.

Television Week reported that the fine stemmed from a complaint lodged by watchdog group the Parents Television Council. The scrutiny of "Married" comes less than a month after the FCC formally issued its $550,000 fine against CBS for Janet Jackson (news) breast-baring incident during the Super Bowl telecast in February.

1. Fascists are really raunchy
Ever notice that the most right-wing station on the air--FOX--airs the raunchiest shows?

They say they'll appealing to young audiences, but that's just the right-wing way of keepin'em horny and corrupting their morals. Can you say "hypocrites"?

Sinclair Draws Partisan Scrutiny
With Plans for Kerry Broadcast

.... Sinclair President and Chief Executive David Smith has become known as a renegade in the industry. The company often has clashed with the networks whose programming it carries, including News Corp.'s Fox and Viacom Inc.'s CBS. It also has a measure of leverage when it comes to dealing with program suppliers, because in many big cities, such as Baltimore and Pittsburgh, it controls two television stations.

More recently, Sinclair has drawn attention for its centralized approach to television news. Much of the news that its stations carry across the country is produced in its Hunt Valley, Md., headquarters and fed via satellite to the stations. While it is an effective way to lower costs, industry watchdogs counter that it also means fewer local voices in markets where Sinclair has stations.

5. I think you are confusing Fox Network with Fox News on cable
Fox network is actually pretty fair and usually without any political content. Now Fox news is an entirely different matter. It is nothing but Right-wing Propaganda.

7. "lascivious banter & licking off bodies"
"But sources said the content in question involved lascivious banter among 'Married' contestants and a segment that involved contestants licking whipped cream off each other's bodies."

Otoh, on the "Joe Schmo Show" there was a chocolate-licking episode (Spike network?). And Wingnut wacko Ted NUGENT has had people of whatever gender chewing stuff then swapping it from mouth to mouth. Disclaimer: Not typical of my viewing habits.

4. Uh, oh. How much would they be fined for "Married - With Children"?
Methinks that Faux could really, really get hit hard for that one . . .

Too bad there's probably some loophole there.

But, then again, you have it airing in reruns . . .

6. They should be fined for their reality shows. This bugs me about Fox
Owned by a conservative megalomaniac.

They have reality shows like Trading Spouses, Married by America, and all kinds of other shit that underminds the sacred institution of marriage.

Why would conservatives produce, air, support, and watch such programs? Why do they constantly attack and belittle the scanctity of marraige?

I thought they wanted to protect it?

8. I worked on that goddamn show. It was so dreadful
it was pure porn. The producers admitted they wanted to get sex on camera. They told the cameramen to do their best to get sex on camera.

I was disgusted with the whole operation. I'd rather work on straight porn than this dreck.

I swore I'd never work on a reality show ever again.
