The Sinclair Mess: Is this a ploy to promote the Anti-Kerry movie... |
|
...for release in the movie theaters?
Think about the last 2 movies that had a controversial pre-release: The Passion of the Christ and Fahrenheit 9/11. Both of these movies received significant press before they were finally released in the theaters because at first, no one would distributed them. Then there was other controversies around the movies: Graphic Nature of The Passion and a director questioning a war-time president with F9/11. Yet when both movies finally got released they both did exceptionally well with The Passion grossing over $300mill and F9/11 over $100mill which is the best ever for a documentary.
Now the big stink is this Anti-Kerry movie that Sinclair wants to force it's O&O stations to pre-empt regular broadcasting to show this clearly one-side movie mere weeks before the election. Even someone with the IQ of George W. Bush knows this is in clear violation of FEC regulations. Mere days after the LATimes hit the press with this story, it seems that the Sinclair/Anti-Kerry Movie is getting alot of press both here and abroad. And just like The Passions and F9/11, where there is much controversy, it tends to gain interest from John & Jane Q. Public.
What concerns me is this ploy by Sinclair isn't to get the movie on 62 network stations across the country, but what if it's to get the movie released into the Cineplexes across the nation? Sure, folks would have to cough up $10 a ticket, but like The Passion, I could see certain groups coughing up large sums of money to buy tickets to hand out free to anyone who wants to see it.
I will still do my part to help end this major FEC violation and keep the Anti-Kerry movie off of Sinclair stations (fortunately there are none near me), but I'm really starting to think that Sinclair and the folks who made this movie had other alternatives than to show it on Network Television. Please tell me I'm wrong!!!

2. The point about being a broadcast station--they can promote it themselves |
|
They don't need a controversy. All they need is one of three or four broad cast stations and play it.

4. The Sinclair station here is really a second string, half-assed. . . . |
|
. . .piece of shit anyway. I don't think many people are going to replace their favorite prime time viewing with this hateful scree, and I would be really surprised if they plunk down $10 to see it either. Those that would pay, will be SURPRISE!SURPRISE! IDIOT FREEPERS!!!
