Did you hear the voice select who he would take the first question from - and the complete answer??
I'd never heard this, but somebody's got some 'splainin' to do! :grr:

3. thanks for posting this... |
|
I had heard about it, but couldn't play it before.
After checking this out, however, I am more thinking that rather than it being an earpiece giving him the answers or a prompter or something, that it is more likely some sort of audio feedback, or delay of the audio. Notice that what he says, and what supposedly comes through the earpiece seems to be exactly the same, pauses and voice inflections and all.
Not only that, the questioner's audio is repeated as well...

4. My theory is that Bush pre-recorded what he was going to say |
|
and then parroted his own words back to him because he can't string sentences together out of his own head from notes.

However, at about 1:33 or the questioner's question is heard in the same fashion (he asks the question and then after a slight delay, faintly in the background, you can hear the exact same audio.)
So, I'm not convinced that there is anything nefarious going on. Not in this video. It's just that the audio track is effed up, imho.
Then again, I wouldn't put much faith in a video that I see on the web anyway. I'm a sound designer and could very easily put together a video clip that made it seem like just about anything was happening with the audio track.
Not that I think this video is a fake, far from it. I just think that the audio track is messed up and people are reading into it what they want to.
just my 2 cents worth...

6. The thing is, a lot of us saw this on television at the time |
|
and commented on it. So it definitely is NOT a matter of jacking with the clip from the original source. Whether or not the audio feed, as done originally on television, is possibly at fault is another matter, but the clips are not doctored.

9. I agree, I don't think the audio was jacked with... |
|
As I said, I don't think this video was doctored. I just don't think that it is evidence of the feeding of answers to Bush during a press conference.
I didn't see this particular one live on television, but I have seen live satellite transmissions where the audio is out of sync, or there's weird feedback, or echoes, delay, etc... It's the nature of digital communications.

10. Chimpy blows the line "I look forward to working with President Chirac" |
|
He says "I look working...I look forward to working with President Chirac." The prompting voice DOES NOT make this error - therefore this was not just some delay or echo - or anything attributable to a mere technological failing.

12. I don't know if it is important but the woman translating Chirac speech |
|
for Foxnews is also anticipating what he says, but in english. So it is certainly not a live translation but a dubbed one afterwards.eom

16. Chirac's Cough Is Heard Before The Real One |
|
The video is a load of crap. Chirac's cough is heard in what people are saying is the radio transmission before he actually coughs on camera.

17. the second half of the tape sounds like an echo |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-12-04 01:42 PM by gasperc
the first part sounds like a different voice
and what's key is that in the first few seconds you hear "I look forward to working with president Chirac" but when it is "repeated" by Bush supposedly, Bush stumbles, so it WAS NOT AN ECHO. Something about the mike setup picked up the "other" voice. Later in the tape it does sound like an echo to me. So just the statement was fed to him, I think.

i dont this is a recorded voice from his earpiece. what i do think, it does show how easily someone could be feeding him lines over a earpiece. plenty of time during his pauses to relay information.
