Saw the most annoying billboard in Kissimmee yesterday.
Edited on Tue Oct-12-04 11:39 AM by babyreblin
It was a huge billboard on the main drag (US 192)sponsored by some group called Florida Women for President Bush, I think. It said something like "Florida's women thank President Bush for keeping our families safe". I was very annoyed with this billboard because it made it sound like all women in Florida are endorsing Bush. I felt very insulted. Why are these groups allowed to advertise such generalizations? I wish there were some Kerry billboards in the area for balance.

1. free speech. people can say what they want, but....
...it seems like you've got a good start on a letter to the editor of, say, the Orlando Sentinel or other area newspaper. Nail 'em good!

6. I wouldn't have minded as much if they
just used the name of their group in place of Florida's women. Of course the billboard would still be obnoxious. All billboards are obnoxious in my opinion, but the content of this billboard makes it more obnoxious than most billboards.

2. I had a shock yesterday driving to work when I saw large banner
affixed to the side of a commercial building near I-75 that said "PROTECT OUR TROOPS - DUMP BUSH!"

And this is in Republican East Tennessee!

The times, they are a changin'.

5. I don't think anyone is likely to get way with vandalizing the sign.
It is on a very heavily traveled road. There are lots of businesses in the area. I think it is supposed to be the tourist area, but that area of Kissimmee looks like crap after getting slammed with three hurricanes. Plus they've got major road construction happening.
