2. Tell her to see the film |
|
...I recall quite a few compelling Arab interviews in that work. Nicely tell her that when she says stuff like that, it makes her seem stupid, and you KNOW, of course, she isn't stupid (try not to gag when saying this line). Tell her to watch the thing, and then make up her mind, and that you would really, really, REALLY like to hear her 'informed' opinion of the MM work, and you don't want to change her mind, necessarily, you just would like HER point of view.
If you have the DVD, dupe a tape for her. Then she does not have to complain about funding an opposing view.
Curiosity about this movie is just TOO STRONG, even with the nutcases. If they find themselves with a copy, they'll pop it in, secretively, or just to yell at it, but they may find themselves drawn in despite their lockstep mindset.

3. can't say that to her - unless I want to kiss the rest or the little bit |
|
of friendship there is goodbye
I haven't seen it because I can't take gore or violence - I have read everyone's response here and knew and felt much of the other before I even knew of mm or f911
but I was hoping her husband would watch it - because I am not convinced he will vote for kerry
and I am now not convinced she will either - in the primary she voted for him because he was 'electable' which was the media line
now I wonder if the media will influence her into voting for bush
they watch a gazillion movies - they pay to go out to the movies - I rent or go to dollar shows -
when ever I start talking political our phone conversations end - she has to go take care of the kids or something
I have been feeling like a need new friends - I need some people who have interests like I do
I want someone to go sailing with - and it is a chore for her to go and almost like she is doing me a favor - I don't need that
our common ground is we both 'process thought similarly' so when I need to talk in depth about something or have the whirling dervishes - she is who I can talk to - but the rest is dead -
it just becomes a struggle to get together and do anything outside of phone conversation -

4. Get her to watch 'The Control Room'!! |
|
If she's at all concerned about how the arabs really see it, The Control Room will REALLY open her eyes. It's a wonderful movie, much more eye-opening that F911, in many respects.
