Gallup Replied to my E-Mail (Sort of)

I sent an e-mail to gallup asking them why they are oversampling Republicans in the polls. Here is what I wrote to them.

----------

Gallup ran a snap poll after the 2nd presidential debate. It
said Kerry won with 47% and Bush had 45%.

Can someone at gallup tell me why you are adding a Republican bias to
your polls. You are sampling 38% Republicans, 32% Democrats, and 28%
Independents. How do you come to the conclusion that there are 6% more Republicans than Democrats.

I saw your guy Frank Newport on CNN with Judy Woodruff after moveon.org ran the full page ad in the NY Times. But he did not explain why Gallup is oversampling Republicans.

I can not believe your polls until you explain why you are oversampling Republicans when there are at least as many
registered Democrats, if not more. Zogby and other pollsters are not doing this, so why is Gallup doing it.
