What kind of an education system does this country have when |
|
we have people who keep questioning the Theory of Evolution based on biblical beliefs, the use of stem cells in research for developing cures for intractable diseases and a myriad other cockamamie arguments against the Scientific Method?

Other people around the world can incorporate science into their religious beliefs why is it that here it's an either or situation.
I just don't understand it.

2. A locally controlled one |

If the local school board is made up of idiots (voted in by idiots), then the local school system will be idiotic.
That's why I am skeptical of the Sacred Cow of local control of schools. I lived in a town where the schools were controlled by idiots, voted in by idiots, who were ahead of their time in electing a professional "wrestler" to public office.
A couple of towns over, perhaps 15 miles away, where the school board members were not idiots, they had a school system that (in those days) routinely appeared on lists of the nation's best public school systems.
