Furniture sale entangled in television politics

An Internet-fueled political clash led to headaches Tuesday for an Arden Hills furniture store. Partisan callers tied up the phone lines at Carroll's Furniture after a "blogger" reported that the store had pulled its TV advertising to protest plans to run a documentary criticizing Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

"We're getting calls from both sides, praising us and telling us to go to hell," said Aaron Rosenthal, who works at the store, owned by his son, Scott. "I don't give a darn who wins the election. I just don't want my phone to be tied up."

Scott Rosenthal could not be reached for comment. His father said he didn't know whether the store had actually pulled its ads.

The onslaught of calls and e-mails -- more than 300 of each -- started Tuesday morning after a Web log, or "blog," printed a copy of what purported to be a letter from Scott Rosenthal, pulling his store's advertising from local TV station KMWB-23. KMWB is owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group of Baltimore.

Ya think they'll protect that store owner and his property from the freepo-terrorists? I wouldn't count on it if I was the owner. I'd get me a shotgun filled with blanks and give 'em a good scare the minute they touched my store.

The nazis actually help our cause by doing this. Other advertisers don't want to be called by BOTH as the articles says. They are all targets now. Any other phone numbers? lol

I bet some suits at Sinclair are starting to run for cover. :-)
