Suskind: This is an empire - we make reality, you study it"
Ron Suskind was on Air America - talking of both his book and an upcoming article in Sunday NYT. The quote above is by a WH aide.
Of the debate, W said: "I'm going to be positive while keeping my foot on John Kerry's throat"

1. He is always too busy stamping his little feet
in a temper tantrum to get near anybody's throat.

3. Suskind said this quote captures his essence.
I was terrified by the "reality" quote - I never realized how deliberate it all is....

4. Somebody posted this long article yesterday
http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/

Among other patterns of behavior, it points out the pattern where he runs away when faced with a problem and then his goons come out to solve it in his favor a little later. He has not once showed courage or even competence, he is all made-up image and big, phony words.

I guess those guys really believe the empire thing. People always said Vietnam came from a mystical belief in superior technology and no understanding of how a "people's war" works. It seems like they are just doing the same thing over again.

5. The belief in technology is reinforced by the horrible quacks
working at the hundreds of research labs concocting more and more fearsome weapons. As the megalomaniacs seek newer ways to overcome resistance from the people they invade, these quacks come out of the woodwrk brandishing the new weapons as the panacea for solving the problems of people's resistance. The genetic warfare proposed by Kristol and Wolfowitz in the PNAC document falls in this category.

7. Thanks. here's another good observation:

And, in trying to figure out his position on an issue, Bush, like a lot of other politicians, doesn’t so much analyze as look for a hook—a phrase or a way of framing the issue that feels instinctively right to him. In his case, instinct usually takes him to a position where he is in charge and everyone else has to adjust.

2. He better take his foot out of his mouth if he wants it on someone's
throat. What a tool. Ah, hubris, the last refuge of the schoolyard bully.

6. I heard that interview on the way in to work
On Air America's new Atlanta affiliate, AM 1690.

That whole interview sent chills down my spine.

I've said it before, but this administration, like the Regan administration of the 80's, is based on theories of post modernism. There is no objective reality, just perceptions that can be manipulated.
