I heard somewhere that bush has history on his side ,that no war time President has ever lost his bid for a second term. Notice I avoid the word bid for re-election ,cause in this case bush was not elected ,as we all know he was selected .Does this throw the historical trend thingy out the window. Also the occupation of Iraq , a pre-emptive invasion of a country , does this in of itself go against any historical trend ! Does anyone have any historical facts that support a Kerry win in November ? Just like records are made to be broke ,same with history , this is one trend (war time President thing)that I pray gets broken this November, any facts or thoughts ! Kerry/Edwards a must win ! Thanks to All NicRic

1. Both Truman and LBJ chose not to run during a war, probably because |
|
they would have been defeated.

3. George HW Bush had 90% approval ratings |
|
for his handling of the war in Iraq in 1991 and he lost in 1992.
Bush's overall approval ratings are below 50% (I think Zogby had it at 47%), and that bodes very poorly for Bush's chances of re-selection, historically speaking. Meanwhile, Kerry's rating for approval, trustworthiness, etc have gone up considerably.
