Science tells us what we already know about homosexuals!!!! |

LONDON, England (Reuters) -- Genetic factors, along with cultural and early experiences, influence male homosexuality, Italian scientists said on Wednesday. http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/science/10/13/homosexuality.study.reut/index.html

Didn't you know that homosexuality is a choice. I mean who wouldn't want to deny their natural impulses so they could lose their rights, be shunned by family and friends, and oh yeah get beat up by ignorant rednecks once in a while. Sounds like a great 'choice' to me.

4. Let's see, the X chromosome plus early cultural experiences? |
|
Yeah, let's all blame MOM again!
Fe fi fo fum, I smell more bullshit.
I don't expect this one to be repeated, either.
I've known 3 sets of identical twins involved in bone marrow/HIV cure experiments with a straight twin donating to his identical but gay brother. It's probably not genetic, nor is it because Mom held her sons on her lap too often. The best thinking now is that it's a genetic predisposition that exists in a lot of us that is activated by hormones in utero, which could explain why one identical twin got a different hormonal load than another and why one was straight and the other gay.
We know it's not behavioral, not cultural (since nearly all gays grew up in hetero homes), and probably not exclusively genetic. It's also certainly not a choice and can't be "cured," no matter how much you love Jesus.
I have a feeling this research will probably be overturned as identical twin studies of men with this marker are done.

5. What the article says is the same things as all my psych classes would |
|
say. It is a combination. Not entirely genetic, and not entirely from society, either. The University of Minnesota Twins Study revealed that not all twins that have one homosexual sibling are also gay, but the likelihood is higher. What this articles says is just that: There IS a gene, but there is somthing else that triggers it.
