Is he really Pro-Life? When the NRA is supporting him? |
|
After Shrub's comments tonight about the rights of all to have guns if they want them, the NRA has said they will support Bush with big dollar ads.
I don't get that he is Pro-Life as he said and life affirming when he can't see how guns cause death, how his war is causing death, how stem cell research could save lives as could ending the war?
Am I missing something here? What's Pro life about war or guns?

1. the far right fundies are full of positions that make no sense |

anyway, the pro lifers say they care about all life but they are always pro death penalty too. Never think about "gee, but suppose the person is wrongly convicted"
anti choice is about punishing the bad girls who aren't subservient enough. Its about sentimental gushing over gerber babies by ignoramuses who have no concept of the reality of rape, poverty, women whose very own lives matter and should not be forced to bear children.....
oh forget it, I'm tired, its late, I rant on this all the time. I'm just gonna vote Kerry--he was the only candidate I've ever heard talk about women as if their issues even matter. (notice he talked about min wage as a women's issue and gender gap in pay, acknowledging the discrimination against women? I never heard that get adressed before. Go Kerry!)

They usually are pro death penalty, too. I'm just not looking forward to the ridiculous campaign ads they are going to put out now...
I agree, I felt so great tonight hearing Kerry speak the way he did about women. Woooo Hooooo!
Thanks for your response! G'night!

4. pro-death penalty pro-lifers! |
|
Yeah, I find this dual stance many pro-lifers have to be too much.
I'm not sympathetic to killers by any means, but I just see how the "sanctity of life" can be preserved if the state is allowed to kill people after they are disarmed, convicted and imprisoned.
I guess if the criminal was imprisoned in a womb, they couldn't be morally executed.

Thanks Fizz Fuzz! I'm happy to be here. Some crazy right winger on another board that I visit was putting this place down. I figured if it was a smart enough board to ban his sorry ass, it was the kind of board I wanted to be a part of! LOL!

7. He's not pro-life at all |
|
To look at his actions joined with his words I would wonder if Iraqi women are free to get abortions in his eyes. He's going to bomb them anyway, right?

:hi:
Bush is Pro-life till birth. Then to hell with them. If he can't tax them to death, he'll send them off to war. If that fails he'll try like hell to make your life miserable. No health care. Poor education. Few employement possibilities. And if he's real lucky he'll get to send you to the pearly gates via his death penalty.

12. If you define pro-life narrowly, to include only opposition to abortion, |
|
then he can claim to be pro-life, though he never appears in person to speak before pro-lifers who march on Washington every January. He sends a tape or speaks from an undisclosed remote location, never is actually "able" to be there. Of course the reality is he doesn't want to be seen as pandering to pro-lifers. Talk about using people and expecting them to remain in your base! I'm hoping some will wake up and refuse to vote for him.
What's more annoying to me is when he uses the phrase "culture of life" to appeal to Catholics. Any Catholic who pays attention knows that "culture of life" includes opposition to capital punishment and to war (in almost all circumstances), as well as to abortion. Pope John Paul II specifically said that invading Iraq was not a "just war" and that God would not support it. And then there's Dubya's history as a governor who kept the death chamber busy killing people -- but for some reason commuted the sentence of serial killer Lucas.
It just boggles the mind why anyone supports him
