'Bush Wired' Story Continues; 'Bulge' Appears in Third Debate
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 11:44 PM by Semilib
Washington Dispatch 10/14/04
--SNIP--

A story by Salon.com furthered a growing theory that Bush was wired for sound to receive assistance during the debates. While the Bush campaign shrugs off the comments as "conspiracy theories" they have denied that Bush was wearing any type of Kevlar vest that could explain the angular shape under his suit.

In the third and final debate, the bulge came back. As shown in the attached photo generated in house directly from the NBC broadcast (click the images to enlarge), the clearly defined shape that started this buzz is back.

The photo was clipped from the end of the debate as Bush was walking across the stage. If you have it taped or Tivoed, just skip to the end.

16. I never imagined they would have him wearing it this time.
What kind of gadget could be so important to them that they would put it on him even now, after it was spotted in the first two debates & the press picked up on it?

Is there some way Rove can twist it so all the critics look foolish--like it's a mini-version of the Football that he has to wear in order to stay in constant communication with the Pentagon or something?

You know, "Even during the debate, our Shrub was on the job, ready to protect the Free World..."

...from that angle were taken until the debate was finished. Do you suppose that the camera operators honored an agreement to shoot only from the front during the debate but purposely shot the back view after the debate?

42. There were some "behind" shots...
About 15-20 minutes into the debate, there was a shot from that camera window behind Bush and Kerry. I was watching one of the broadcast networks (ABC, I think). Anyway, I found myself specifically looking at W's back. He was standing straight this time, rather than hunching or leaning on the podium, and I didn't notice anything unusual.

73. It's more visible when he hunches
When you hunch over, you stretch your coat against your back. When you stand up straight, you coat will drape normally, and it would be easier to hide something under your coat. The problem is that Bush can't keep from slouching for the entire time of the debate.

38. The press picked up on it, but
so far no one seems to be asking any tough questions. Wouldn't that have been a great final question from Schieffer? "Mr. President, what is that bulge on your back? There's been a great deal of speculation about this, and a rather dismissive attitude by the White House. However, the American public would like an explanation, and I'm giving you a public forum to provide one."

20. i swear.....the way he speaks........in short phrases.........makes me....
......think that he is..........listening to something........prompting him on what to say........

i try not to think this way, but in these events, it seems like he listening to something give him lines. he will pause while trying to listen and when he is talking he will totally drop off of one point and into the next almost mumbling the words to catch up to where he is supposed to be.

when i watch him, he doesn't look like he has andy idea what he is going to say next or where he is headed...the words just pop out of his mouth.

i don't know if he is wired or not, but i wouldn't be suprised if something is going on in that department. it sure would explain a lot to me.

46. A little birdie?
Just recently I had to re-record some narration for a video. I didn't have the script memorized, although I was the one that had written it, so I just played the original recording over a headset and then repeated everything as I heard it, like a news anchorman getting a feed. Some of W's answers tonight sounded very much like he was doing the same thing - repeating a recording of stuff, but stuff that he wasn't very familiar with, or a listing of bullet points and statisitics that he had to "expound on" while he spoke.

I'm not saying he *did* do that, but merely that it struck me that that is how he sounds sometimes.

25. His behavior was different tonight
I think he wears a wire, and has Karen tell him what to say. In the last two debates, she has been fairly dictating long responses to him.

But tonight was a little different.

Here's what Koko's trainer did tonight: over the last week, she rigorously drilled him on 10-14 "lotsa factual" things to memorize. He *did* manage to memorize all this shit; he can do that kind of stuff if he must. Then tonight, instead of dictating long responses, she merely cued him, via feed, to use "such and such pat memorized response." I noticed he also looked out to audience and seemed to be getting signals -- non-verbal cue?

Well, we were treated to the full dog and pony show tonight. They had to work hard ! Putting on a dog and pony show is hard work. Very hard work. A real Cecil B De Mille production, complete with closeups. Still pure bullshit though. But you just couldn't smell it as plainly, because it was behind many layers of plastic -- but it is bullshit all the same.

short phrases. That was evident when he inexplicably said "paygo" instead of "pay as you go." His ventriloquist must have abbreviated the expression to "Paygo." He repeated it twice looking the whole time like WTF is "paygo"?

How scary is it that the chimp wears a wire and still sounds like an ass?

I was thinking the same thing. He memorized certain phrases and then they fed him the key word to get him to spew out his ridiculous answers. He always stalled at the beginning of an answer by saying some idiotic thing while he waited for his cue.

I can't believe he keeps getting away with it!

(posted in GD)

Bush receiving messages from Mars

This just in: The president is an alien.

Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman was deep into his pre-debate spin with a group of reporters in Tempe this afternoon when he was asked about the bulge on Bush's back. "I didn't see it, I didn't pay attention to it, "Mehlman said. "I was amused to hear that someone thought it was a transmitter."

Mehlman kept saying he doesn't know what people saw in the suit, and he started joking about whether his own suit had a bulge. A reporter cut him off and asked: "Who knows what it is?" Mehlman responded: "I do not know. I will try to find out and tell you."

Pressed for a "legitimate explanation," Mehlman said: "The president is an alien. You heard it here first. The president is an alien. That's your quote of the day. He has been getting information from Mars. The shock of the debate will be the president's alien past will be exposed, which is why that box is there."

When Mehlman was done laughing, War Room asked him why the White House or the Bush-Cheney campaign won't come clean about what caused the bulge. "I have to tell you, I really don't know the answer to the question. We will try to find out the answer. I honestly don't know the answer to that question. I did not notice the box. As a guy that buys suits off the rack, I'm used to suits that don't fit right. If I were in your business, I'd be able to get tailored suits."

We'll be waiting for Mehlman to get back to us. In the meantime, we also put the question to Bush-Cheney spokesman Steve Schmidt and RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie: Why not put the story to rest by saying what caused the bulge? Both men laughed, Schmidt said "stop," and then they walked away

60. They are so supremely confident in their ability to delude at least 50% of
the country that they just tell the most outrageous lies. They know that true believers could watch * really turn into an alien lizard and eat an audience member, and find a way to turn it into a story of * protecting us from a hidden terrorist.

Their entire strategy is to lie, lie, lie and know that some idiots will buy anything. Oh, and of course to ridicule actual legitimate questions as conspiracy theories and jokes. :grr:

88. As John Mclaughlin would say, "You have stumbled uncontrollably...
into the truth."

That's what I'm beginning to believe: the Bushistas know that are losing ground in the polls have nothing to campaign on so they are lying recklessly and shamelessly in an effort to shore up at least 50.00001% of the vote, knowing that many of the people are Freepers and Fundies and will believe anything they say.

Bush's lies ("I didn't say I wasn't concerned about Osama!," and "I just want to make sure drugs from Canada are safe!") and Cheney's lies ("I never met you, Senator Edwards," and “I have not suggested there’s a connection between Iraq and 9/11") can easily be disproved, however, once uttered will be believed by the F&Fs, and, the Bushistas hope, by enough of the other voters to achieve their 50.00001% goal.

perhaps he has siezures and doesn't want the world to know. bruises on face? failure to take the yearly presidential physical?

hhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. the president is physically and mentally unfit to command.

shot from the back as they went to the podiums.

Kerry should offer to debate Bush again, and let he wear the wire anyway!

47. You know....this is absolutely astonishing.
Take another look at Bush from behind. It's SO obvious there's something attached to his back. He's had this thing on for a long time. And they're just denying it? They say it's a crease or a wrinkle.

This story is all over the European newspapers. They're absolutely giddy about guessing what on earth it is. Swedish headline: "what's the lump in his jacket?"

And for them to CONTINUE, even as the sensation grows. What on earth is it? Is Bush a robot and that's his battery pack? Medication?

Don't they realize this is sinking what's left of Bush's image.

49. Even without seeing the
bulge on the lump I would swear he was wired just by his behavior, but then I wonder, if he was wired, why didn't anyone tell him to get rid of the schmuts on the side of his mouth. I finally put a sticky note over his head until he got rid of it. I think it was a wire and it must be greatly humiliating to be so stupid that people have to go to such lengths to make you appear somewhat lucid.

59. He's been trained by a dog or horse trainer (my theory)
The bulge is an electronic buzzer. George has been trained by an animal trainer of some sort. He has memorized 5-8 talking points and there is a buzzer signal for each one. For example: 1 buzz = "no child left behind". 2 buzzes = "flip flop". 3 buzzes = "terrorists". and so on.

63. A combination of prompts and dictation
I think that sometimes whoever is on the other end prompted him mid-answer and at other times dictated somerthing for him to write down (creating an on the fly cheat sheet). Anyone seeing the sheets of paper would think that he had just jotted down notes in preparation for his rebuttal but in fact he was transcribing. Last night he appeared to be writing more as opposed to the jottings (very quick checks/circles/little scribbles) of first debate. I'm not sure how often he wrote during this debate but the times I noticed it it appeared to be more sustained than during the first debate. One kind of analysis that would substantiate this might be to check his responses, especially cadence, for questions he was given as opposed to rebuttals.

In other venues, he has been fed answers that he repeats, which accounts for his very peculiar cadence at those events.

74. Sorry, but this is tinfoil
Do you think they could find some bigger gear to wire him up with?

I mean come on here folks. I've got receivers and headgear that would take up a hell of a lot less space on my body, and my shit is old, not state of the art. If you think that is what a wire looks like, welcome to 25 years ago.

81. some have said it could be a
medical device too, like a pain pump. But it is odd that you see these two same bulges, get an explanation? from the WH, and one of the debate rules says niether candidate can take off thier jackets. Odd?

90. State of the art gear
Where would Bush's handlers go to get a transmitter? Who could they trust? The CIA? FBI? Military intelligence? They have made enemies everywhere.

Let's say they were afraid to ask the CIA to fit Bush for a state of the art device. They were afraid someone in the CIA would out that the president was wired. They wanted to keep this to as few on the inside as possible. So they pick up something "off the rack". Something like this:

79. Bush changes proformance during debate
I noticed from the beginning that Kerry was talking mostly to the camera, while Bush was talking mostly to the moderator. I thought Kerry was more effective in his talking to “America” approach. As the debate progressed, Bush then started talking to the camera. Almost as if he had been coached to start doing this as well . . .

80. What is it, what is it, what is it?
Well, it could be a transceiver, but if it is, then it is a damn old model, because anything from the past twenty years would be about the size and thickness of a wallet. And modern state of the art models would simply slide into the ear canal, and be virtually indetectable unless you looked directly into his ear. And even if it is a transceiver, it obvioulsy did him no good.

Some sort of drug delivery device? Again, rather doubtful, as modern versions are rather small, again about the size of a wallet.

If it was the nuke "football", then I'm sure Bush would have carried it openly onto the stage in order to make the statement that he was always on the job. Actually, I'm sure that the "football" was nearby, as it always goes with the president wherever he is, but is generally carried by an aid.

My guess is that he is, despite his denials, wearing a Kevlar jacket. Look at the drop off from the shoulder to the upper arm. Much thicker looking than your ordinary shoulder pads one finds in most suits. The boxish looking outline actually looks more like the cut out of a bullet proof vest, put there in order to move one's shoulders freely. That's my opinion, and I've dealt with such vests before.

Then again, it could be some back brace that kept him from slouching on the podium like he did in the first debate;)

he could have a vest or some brace on and still be wired, one doen't automatically disqualify the other.

84. It's not a wrinkle that's for sure. The WH is lying about this.
I am convinced it's a device to help him cheat during the debates.

I think it didn't work the first debate and he was stranded. I think
it worked in #2 and #3.

Something's gotta be done about this. This is a huge scandal yet to
be uncovered.

85. There is no way to prove that Bush* cheated...
...because no one on either side will make the effort.

- Our society is programmed NOT to believe in 'conspiracy theories'. In fact...those who think outside the box or come up with alternate theories are usually accused of 'wearing a tin foil hat' or worse.

- This is why the Bush* white house's involvement in 9-11 or their connection with Saudi terrorist financing was never investigated.

- RWingers not only control most of the media...they've also killed off any remaining INVESTIGATIVE journalism. That's why this story will go nowhere.
